StCroix Schools
Good Morning,
Looking to relocate to St.Croix but am concerned about school for my boys-one will be a junior and one in 5th. Any info, advice, would be greatly appreciated.
hmmm, my advice would be do not move here unless you can afford to put your children into one of the private schools. There are several and they are similarly good. Call them now, get thier info packages, do the research for next year (and make sure you can get them in... registration for next year is right now). I have heard they are not cheap tho.
I'm not trying to being negative. I believe your children's education is the most important gift you give them. This is serioius stuff. Moving a child in their junior year is hard, but depending on the child it could be a wonderful thing (only you and he know) ...... but please don't put your child in our public school system.... if you have to do that , wait to come down here until after he is off to college.
Some schools: A to Z Acadamy, Country Day, Good Hope, .....also homeschoolers...

I believe there are past posts on this topic and may be some in moving section. Read them all. 🙂 and good luck to you...and... I have no children so this is based on my observation, not on my personal experience. JMO
Free Will Baptist school is a lot less expensive than the other private schools, goes through high school, and has a fairly broad curriculum.
Thanks for the advise. I kind of figured as much--about having to do the private school thing. Like you said, their education is the most important thing, it will probably be the deciding factor for moving at this point.
I hadn't seen anything on the Baptist school. Will have to check it out. Thanks!
Private schools are expensive and I don't know how the school buses work. Even though St. Croix isn't huge it can take a while to drive with traffic and small roads and everything. I am trying to find a living arrangement that is close enough to Country Day that I won't spend all my time dropping off and picking up.
I met a 7th grader who commented that there is less to do here. Don't know how your kids feel about the beach, but apparently movies and bowling are only an option in the evenings on weekdays, (she said even during summer vacation) so mostly people get together at the beach. And it is getting hot already - and it's only April!
Also, my family is finding that there are things we "need" that we hadn't realized before. We forgot to buy drinking water at the store this morning, and now we are out. Oops. We are trying to get our car fixed and it is ... slow... We are looking for a house/apartment and there is always something missing... our internet connection is terrible, and vi broadband hasn't called us back to let us know if we are eligible... I know we will get adjusted soon, and this part of the process is good for helping us understand our "needs" but I thought if you could do the soul searching part in advance it might help you.
Good luck!
Thanks for the info. As far as things for the kids to do ... Where we live now, they offer movies and well, bowling - sometimes (league play takes priority) and their athletics. THe beach would be an added plus!
