He used to have 3 dogs. I noticed about a month ago it was only 2. He has been taking care of those dogs for years. I don't know if it's the same dogs, but I think so.
I hope he wasn't involved in this incident.
Hope the man and his dog(s) will be alright.
Is there a news story somewhere about this attack? Did it really happen or is this just a rumor gone wild?
I've not read anything in the papers about this.
And I saw the homeless guy Monday morning across from Plaza east with his 3 dogs. All perfectly healthy.
IT WAS NOT A HOMELESS GUY WHO GOT AXED/STABBED whatever it was a white guy and his dog who got axed/stabbed-not sure which. by a black homeless person. as the white guy was going to his vehicle. his dog tried to help him and he was attacked. a person at work witnessed this.
it was not in the paper yesterday even though this happened on saturday at around 1-2 pm ( afternoon ) a lot of crimes are not in the paper. so not a big indicator of truth or not. the person who told a few of us this info is not prone to falsehoods.
Speee1dy, you have to wonder about people on this forum. Are they not concerned that a person and his animal were supposedly attacked for no apparent reason?
Mental illness is a huge problem, and we all are subject to becoming victims of an unprovoked attack from someone who is off balance.
I try to stay as far from them as possible. You can usually tell who they are, but IMO, it's not a good idea to let anybody you don't know get close to you except maybe at public events.
One almost spit on me one day, so I've since made it a point to stay as far away as possible.
We are all concerned.
It could happen to any one of us at any time.
Crime can be random and unpredictable.
Even good people going about their daily lives, while less likely to become victims, are not immune.
Some like to deal with this realism through humor.
I'm waiting for Al and Jessie to fly down to tell us all how it was the white guys fault
thank you ms411-that is the fricking point of this thread. that someone and their dog were seriously hurt. and all they can do is be jerks about how i posted something and the following question. my original question was asking if they were okay. but it would seem since neither of them even live on stx they would not know anything and should maybe just say that or say nothing at all.
And you can't open carry?
only as a business owner and only during certain times
As it turns out, the guy who was attacked is a good buddy of mine, a homeowner, and VI resident for around 14 years. He gave me the first hand account of the whole event. Apparently last Saturday he saw some kids washing cars at the Sion Farm gas station, so he pulls his vehicle in and gets in line. While waiting in his car, a man (homeless or not is unknown) comes up and threatens him, saying "you white m@$!?@$!, I'm going to chop your head off".
My buddy rolls up his window and backs out of line while at the same time calling 911 to report the guy. He pulls into the old Mike's Electronics store and begins speaking to the 911 operator.
At that point he sees the crazy guy running towards him with a weapon, which turned out to be a hatchet. The crazy guy smashes out his drivers window and begins chopping my buddy, who gets sliced in the head and hands while trying to defend himself.
They wrestle for control of the hatchet, at which point my friend's pit bull (that was inside the car with him) gets involved and starts attacking the crazy guy, and bites him up pretty good.
My buddy wins control of the hatchet and tosses it away, but the crazy guy grabs his keys and tosses them away. Somehow they all tumble out of the car, blood everywhere.
The crazy guy runs to grab the hatchet, gets it, and chops the dog in the head, which doesn't kill it instantly, but does take it out if the fight.
As police cars are squealing into the lot (911 heard everything through the dropped phone) the crazy guy throws the hatchet at my buddy like a tomahawk, It hits him in the shin and breaks his leg. The police tackle the crazy guy. He goes to jail. My buddy goes to the hospital. His leg required surgery and he had to get his head and hands all stitched up, so he is out of work for several months. The injured dog, who probably saved his life, has been MIA ever since.
thank you so much for the update. i am so sorry he had to go through this and so terribly sorry the dog has not been found. please send him my best. i am glad he is on the mend, even if it is slowly
a person where i work tried to get the dog to a safe spot but the dog just ran away.
That is so sad. So sorry to hear this happened to a good friend of yours and his dog. I will pray for both of them.
