trw,
There was a "but" in your review, for good pizza there should never be a "but". LOL

The closest I've found to NY style pizza on St. Thomas is at Magen's Bay; but I haven't had it for a few years, so it may have changed. I was directed there by Brooklyn born and raised Frank from the Caribbean Saloon.

Gerie,
I will refer to some island pizza as generic! Having some characteristics of the real thing.

Funny thing, I had some really great veggie pizza at On the Run the other day...better than Senor's. The last few times I ate from there the pizza was just "ok".

You will find good pizza, mid west! You will find very good pizza, east coast! You will find the very best pizza in New York! West coast is in the generic category with the islands, so its not your fault its just what you're use to.

"If you want to compare places to the Antilles, you should start with Tahiti, Maldives, Belize, Hawaii, Whitsundays. The gulf of Mexico is not the Caribbean"

I wasn't aware that hawaii was part of the Caribbean either...

Well in that list only Belize is. Dose that mean on that list you only know where Hawaii is. Those are some beautiful places I have been to all but Tahiti. It gets in on reputation. Point is the keys are in the D league. There not even close to the B league, with Cabo San Lucas and the Bahamas.

actually, yeah. i only knew that Hawaii wasn't part of thet Caribbean. sorry! i was just wondering why you were criticizing me for comparing the Fla Keys to the VI. my reason was that they were the only two placed I was considering a move to. chill, lady

aschultz,
Your earlier post you stated you have never been to the FL Keys, that alone excludes your opinion! Yet you go as far as rating it to a D league not a B league. Let me know where I can buy that crystal ball you have!

I have been to Miami, would not bother with the keys.

This is a Virgin Island relocation board, not Florida lady.

aschultz,
The original post asked for a comparison for STT/STJ vs FL Keys! I believe the other islands were introduced by you.

I still think the Keys are a good option if you still want to be connected by a nice drive to the mainland. Key West is known for a bit of a wacky way of life and there is a presence of gay lifestyle there but it's not the core of life there. Also, Key West is not the only island..there are several and as I stated before each one has it's own flavor. If you don't mind being out of touch with the mainland and want a more Caribbean lifestyle then the VI are a good option but be warned...it may be a Territory of the States but it's definitely not the States.

I really appreciate all your insights. I didn't know there would be so many responses on this subject. Does anyone know what apartment costs would be in the Fla Keys? When I lived on St THomas, I had a one-bedroom for $875. I think St JOhn is probably closer to $1500. Am I right to assume the Keys would be appx $1500 as well?

Lizard I spoke of other islands for beauty comparison. Not for relocation information. He asked why, and the difference in latitude is my reason.

so, from what i hear, the florida Keys are as expensive as St. John, but not nearly as pretty. and the only beach they have is man-made? that sounds pretty lame. does anyone know any advantage to living in the Keys then, apart from being able to drive to Florida (which isn't really an advantage, if you ask me)...

Eddie;

I have been to both locations several times and I am moving to St Thomas. It is as convenient as Florida but its still worth it in the end. As far as the Keys being flat that is very true. If you stand on a chair you can see into Georgia! LOL I would stick with your familiar territory that you loved. Good luck to you both!
