Good evening all, I hope everyone had a great day!

Question for ya'll. I have noticed that most all comments or topics relate to STX is there a reason for this? Will be there in June on a one way ticket and was gonna look on both STT and STX at long term places to stay. That being said, it makes me wonder why I never see anything about STT on here. I understand not wanting to put anything negative here about STT so please pm me with your take on STT if that is the case.

Thanks and have a great night!

There are quite a few of us that post on STT but it does seems a bit lopsided compared with the amount of posters from STX.
All 3 islands are different to those of us that live on them. I live in STT and love it and people that live in STX enjoy where they live.
STX seems to put down STT more often it seems to me since we have a more tourist oriented economy as compared with an industrial one, there. Will probably get flamed but it is what it is.

Agreed with Alana. It is a heavy STX forum but theres a lot of us limin on STT and loving it. Check out my pics from all the USVI - www.adrianpoe.com and go to nature photos.

I truly love STX for many reasons but I LOVE that there is SO much to do on STT.

Several years ago the forum participation was more level but the last couple of years have definitely seen a big shift. Not sure what's caused it but everything is cyclical so maybe in a few more years it'll level off again.

My father lived in St Thomas for 21 years working @ Neptune fishing supply and a marina. Sometimes he even lived on his boat. Stayed there until he passed. He told me 2 things about the USVI. St. Thomas of the 3 islands is the closest to the amenities that you have in the states. And it was the best decision he made. He was highly involved with the Rotary Club and the big Chili Cook Off (I miss getting my yearly t-shirts) and the Texas Society. Most important thing about moving as in anywhere, get involved

I have lived in STT for 39 years and some of my posts are true for the whole USVI but most concern a STT question - I haven't even been to STX since before Hugo and know little of the current situation there.
You can click on my screen name and see all the previous posts for a more STT outlook.

There are plenty of St Thomas people here. Honestly, I've been here (STT) a long time, and have never been to St Croix. It seems that many people who are looking to move here now are thinking about St Croix. At least there is a balance on this board among the islands-we have residents of all 4 USVIs.

the only thing i am surprised by is alana saying stx'ers put down stt.

That's always been my feedback from STXers also when I visit there. I say I'm from STT and they immediately talk about how dangerous, crowded and dirty it is. When we did our PMV to STX - we had planned on going to STT but the people on STX that we struck up convo with scared us out of it. They made it sound like people were running around being raped and murdered by the minute. SO far from true.

I think it's just human nature, when in a place with 3(4) quite different choices of islands to live on, to put down the places you did not chose as part of self-justifing the place that you did. We all see it all the time, and St. Thomasians are as guilty of it as anyone else is - it's just part of the uglier side of human nature. You even see it within islands, on St. Croix between east and west enders, and on STT among northsiders and east enders (not us on the south side though, we're perfect and never say a bad word about anyone else LOL)

If you are looking for a faster paced way of living, if you can actaully get that on an island, St. Thomas would be more your speed. It's a bit more crowded than St. Croix, especially on cruise ship days (you stay far away from down town area). Unless you love hectic situations, most people would almost rather take a beating than to go to town on St. Thomas.

St. Croix on the other hand is more laid back a tad easier going and not as crowded with tourist, which is why I think it appeals more to some people than others. I love St. Thomas because my wife was born and raised there and all of her family lives there. This is my take on the difference between the two.

I think it's just human nature/quote]

Partly. I've lived on the South side, the North side and the East end of STT for extended periods over 30 years and have never heard anyone disparage anyone else's area choice. They'll comment on their preference and why they like the area they've chosen but not to the point of making derogatory comments about the area someone else has chosen.

I first went to STX 25 years ago and was confused when several people approached me at a cocktail party to say hello and then followed it up immediately with a comment of, "Heard you're one of the 'good' people on St Thomas". I couldn't make head nor tail of it but quickly learned that many on STX view STT as a den of iniquity populated by unpleasant people; and AandA2VI's perception of this as a relative newcomer is something I totally understand and recognize. It's peculiar because in all my years here in many different arenas I've just never heard similarly derogatory comments made by St Thomians about Crucians.

One can make an analogy with visitors who go to St John for their vacation. The only view they have of STT is the airport and the drive through the busy main route to get to the Red Hook ferry terminal and yet many jump in to tell other prospective visitors that they shouldn't even consider staying on STT because it's just one big dirty nasty hole to be avoided.

Human nature indeed! Or maybe just mouthing off about something you really know nothing about!

thats really kind of sad to put down a place you dont live based on hearsay . i would prefer stt over stx because there is more to do and easier flights out and easier access to the other islands.
