St. John PMV in 3 weeks

Hello Everyone. My husband and I are coming to St. John for our PMV the first week of September. We are hoping to establish a residence at that time for when we move down Sept 30/Oct 1. I know that on St. John, most everything is done via word of mouth or by who you know (in addition to postings in Connections). However, I thought I would put this post out there asking if anyone has any referrals of people we could contact that they know may have an apartment for rent on St. John. Doesn't hurt to ask. We would like to stay as close to Cruz Bay as possible as that is where my husband will be working. Also, I intend to look for a bartending job and would prefer to be in a more touristy area for higher tip potential. So Cruz Bay seems like the optimal choice and we won't have a personal vehicle right away when we get there so we'd like to stay within walking/bus distance.

I do have a couple leads already, but any additional referrals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

For apartments 340-693-7777 is the number for Scenic Properties. They have long term rentals. You can also look on virgin.craigslist.org for apartments/ housing but be careful there are a lot of scams there. You can also check stjohntradewindsnews.com Good luck to you! We will be arriving on STJ next Tuesday!

You can check with Marl or Bob at Star Villas to see if they have anything available and willing to rent by the month during off season.
Their vacation rentals are within walking distance to Cruz Bay up the hill from Gallows Point. They may have something availa ble for a month or 2 to help you get settled and find a long term rental. www.starvillas.com - 340-776-6704

6 years ago when I started my research about my job moving me here it was extremely STT heavy, seemed like the few posters on STX that were around spent all of their time defending STX's reputation. Seems to have totally shifted and now it feels very STX heavy these days.

You should check St John specific sites for more results. The artist Schnell (can't remember first name) has some apartments in Cruz Bay, I think. Who's that artist near Gallows Point?

There aren't many apartments in/near Cruz Bay, because people can make more money renting them to tourists. There are also some subsidized housing, but there's probably a LONG waiting list.

Good luck!

Well right now STX has a mass exodus going on. Kinda like Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt. Pretty soon it will be STX light. Of course those that are left are Crucian and have no interest in a relocation message board. Just life as usual.

There are quite a few places on the board at Connections right now. So I would check there first. Scenic Properties is the biggest one stop for long term rentals, and they have a listing on the board at Connections with their openings. You can call them to see what may be opening up when you make the move. 340-693-7777 Not sure what you budget is... let me know and I will let you know if I know of openings in your price range.
