Does anyone know where a doctor (anesthesiolgist) would go (who to call or website) to find out if our local hospital was hiring?

Thanks in advance for any leads!

I would just call 340-778-6311, get the operator on the line, then ask for Human Resources....

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL DOING THIS!!!

I know of a story of a family moving here where one of the couple works at my employer and the spouse is a doctor. They came here thinking it would be relatively easy for the doctor to join a medical practice or hospital. It turns out the local government is no allowing the doctor to practice unless the doctor agrees to work for the local government's medical program. I don't know the specifics but I gather it is some program that would significantly impact a doctor's income but support a large indigent local population that needs medical care. I would highly suggest the doctor in question in this case contact a local lawyer for support first.

They should contact the Medical Director at Juan Luis. Not sure who that is over there, but you should be able to find out on the website.

GTG: Because of the nature of our health care system, the hospitals are owned by the government. The government asks for a certain number of hours of work for pay- they are government employees.

Marty: That is also why some of the docs do NOT have privileges.

I'm not sure just what the issue was but Michele Dizon's husband (she's an endocrinologist, believe he is an anesthesiologist) had to wait lots of months before he could get licensed---I seem to recall he was from Europe, though, so it could have had to do with his med schools, or whatever, I suppose. I do remember her indicating great frustration, though. And she grew up here, her dad is a Dr, and she had VI govt loans helping pay her way through med school...It has been a real closed network, but recently might have started changing.

Also, don't forget that some of the local specialists don't want a new doctor horning in on their territory.

I understand that, but they don't want to hone in on anyone, maybe just trade spots for month or two, like a reverse vacation.

Being an anesthesiolgist, the only place he would work is the hospital here on stx at least. Juan Luis website is down. Their is a small chance my sister's family might relocate down here and I'm so very excited and just trying to find as much information as possible to sway them. I don't want to call the hospital directly because I feel that is the right thing to do. I'm almost afraid to find out what they pay their doctors here, because it might crush my dream. 🙂 So if anyone has any more information I would be very grateful.

Betty: When the Daily News published the salaries of the executive branch workers several years ago, I believe that doctors made around $125,000 or so. That is for a part-time job. However, I think it may include liability insurance. This does not include any private work they may do. Just call JFL and ask who the Medical Director is, have the physician contact him/her directly.

Call the Chief of Anesthesiology Dr. Robert Bumann to get the information you need.
