Hey Marty...I am a paramedic who got his back broken hauling people around sucking on that tit. Then started to have seizures after the accident. You need to get the whole story before you make a stupid statement. Ever tried to get a paramedic job when you can't lift or when you can't legally drive. You should feel stupid making such statements. I'll trade places with you any day. I loved my job.

Interesting that this many people know what my name means.....I worked in the medical field so it is a good way to meet people in the same field.

I'm sorry that you got jumped on for your screen name. However, you must admit that makes you come across with a little bit of an attitude. Don't underestimate peoples knowledge or intelligence.

Social security and disability payments are accepted in the US Virgin Islands. However some doctors do not accept the Medicare assignment. Unlike the states there is a very limited pool of medical doctors in the islands.

This is an expensive place to live. It would be very difficult to get by here on SSI income. If that is your only source of income, the rent alone will eat up most of it.

Wait a minute...as a paramedic, weren't YOUR paychecks coming from that same tit? What an idiot! And, as a Paramedic, you should know that there are NUMEROUS positions that you could still work in within your field...you are just milking your injury so you don't have to work...just like 70% of the other people on SSI....I sell medical equipment and supplies to our hospitals, EMS, doctor's offices, etc...so I have more than a passing knowledge of what you speak...Ever heard of ADMIN????

I worked for a private company so the government didn't pay my salary. I was diagnosed with a fractured back, also started having seizures. I am diagnosed bipolar and blind in my left. Would love to hunt you down when I get there. Not able to kick your ass but I can hire it down. You are a stupid bastard. That's not exactly true Marty, the USVI gets a lot of assistance from the mainland.

For example, the USVI is currently receiving disaster relief, from a system that the USVI has put nothing into.*-)

With the official declaration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance Program will reimburse the territory for 75 percent of the cost of reconstruction. The local government will be responsible for the remaining 25 percent.

Please don't hate me when I retire to STX and collect SS. I'm pretty sure my checks will be coming out of Washington. I'm not 100% sure about medicaid/medicare. I think the states administer the programs with some federal support but are allowed to add more money/benefits. I know that NY is helping to bankrupt itself with massive benefit expenditures.
Yes, I do understand that your income taxmoney stays in the islands but does the payroll tax stay there too? That's the portion that is supposed to fund SS & medicare. If it stays there it's never going to be enough to pay for your benefits when you retire.
