Sprint -Roaming Charges
I have to tell you, I have incurred some outrageous sprint ROAMING charges since being on island (STX) for the last 2 months, and the charges are close enough to apartment rent charges.
And it appears that the charges (on phone bill) are going back and forth between Puerto Rico, and the other part I can't understand is that most of my calls are mobile-to-mobile, and they still are charging.
Help, I am about to throw the phone into the ocean!
And yes, I have a stateside number.
Another Frustrated Sprint Customer
I too have a stateside Sprint number but have always accessed Sprint's tower on St. Thomas. Even if I had to use roaming to access another carrier's tower my Sprint plan includes free roaming. All for $40 a month. Not familiar with St. Croix Sprint coverage but you may want to consider changing plans to include roaming. I did a year ago and the difference is about $5 a month.
And where would you "roam" to on STX? We aren't close to anything! We have Cingular/ATT unlimited calls to and from the US and we never have any roaming.
I am mid-island (STX), and my cell roams in the house and in various areas, yet my husband on the other hand cell phone doesnt.
Good morning,
I have Sprint also and I have my phone set to alert me when I am roaming or I set it to operate on Sprint only. Under settings on most phones, choose "roaming" and you can set your preferences. Hope this helps.

I too, have roaming included as part of my bill and Jen's recommendation is a good one! I did get charged roaming on my last bill, called and they took the charge off!
Do hubby and yourself both have Sprint? If so, if you aren't on the same plan together, that may be another alternative and make sure you have the free roaming! 🙂
I have noticed that although my phone is supposed to be set to Sprint only, it frequently "accidentally" ends up roaming. Fortunately I have a warning that tells me before I pick up or complete the call. Check your settings or go in to Radio Shack and ask them to set it.
There is just no way I would ever have Sprint down here. The signals are too unstable and there's not enough coverage to be consistant.
My girlfriend and I both use Cingular/AT&T and never have any problems on any of the islands or out on the boat for short sails as well
