Special Needs Teacher - speech therapist
My wife is a trained speech therapist with 20 years experience. Are there possibiliites for her to work there? How do you contact the private schools for openings? Her experience is with K through middle school children.
Thanks
I don't know that the private schools hire SLPs, however, she could provide fee-for-service to parents. She could also look at Special Education (Department of Education), consider a private practice, etc.
Is she a memeber of ASHA? Good source for MS, SLP, CCCs
What island?
Yes, she is ASHA
St. Thomas
For St Thomas, she should go out and network when you come on your premove/look-see visit. If she is interested in offering services at Antilles, Montessori, All Saints, she can visit and talk to the the folks there. Also she might want to look up the names of the other SLPs on the ASHA directory. Again, department of Education usually needs people, although she might not like the salary...
