Hello there again. I wanted to let parents and individuals know that I am a psychotherapist, and will be finally getting my VI license to provide the full range of therapeutic services for individuals with autsim, PDD or other spectrum disorders.

I am a Kennedy Schollar, and am focusing my doctoral work in this same area. I do on-site work with individuals so that the family may also learn tools to use in supporting their children, or so the individual learns concepts and tools in a manner in which they can use them at home. For students, I will also work in hand with schools to assist in assessment, planning, educational IEP/IPP and Transition Development, etc.

As I am myself disabled from an accident, I will only be working in this capacity part-time, at least until my spine stabilizes.

If you are interested in these types of supports and services, Please email me with the heading "PDD" @ Affiliationllc@aol.com

I will send you my resume, speak to you about what your needs may be, and suggest at least a starting point for your child, or for yourself if you are a person living with one of these disorders.

Thank you again, and please feel free to ask any questions you might have in your email. I will gladly answer from a 20 year base of knowledge, or admit to 'not knowing' if it is something I would need to research further.

Warm regards,

Daniel Jude

Hello Daniel,

Since you're a Kennedy Scholar you must be a British citizen -- have you encountered any difficulties obtaining a VI license to practice as a psychotherapist because you do not hold American citizenship?

Thank you! I am hoping to open in July or so a small clinic as the services can be so intensive for the very young. I am trying to gauge the number of folks who might want or need to avail themselves of these services so I can put together a Mission/vision and working plan for development. If you or anyone you know might have a ball park number it would be great so I can do program development accordingly.

Thank you again,

Dan

Hello there. No, I am a US citizen. President J.F. Kennedy created a fund for the intensive education of individuals in rehabilitation, and it still exists today. In the 90's, I was selected from a multitude of people to enter this graduate program. It was unreal. Not even allowed off of campus.

In any event, my license is in progress, and to date, there do not seeem to be any glitches.

Thanks for the 'tip' as I imagine being a non U.S. citizen would add layers and layers to the already significant paperwork!

Warm Regards,

Dan

Daniel: The Special Ed department will be a good referral source as they seem not to have sufficient specialized service. However, if you are on a cash-for-service basis, your clientelle will be more limited. If you have a government contract, beware.

Hello there! Thank you for the advice. I do not do "contracted for" work with governmental entities as I have had experience with that and have found that it too often constrains the work I do. In one state, I did hit a happy medium as the public school system was a referral source, as well as other governmental entities, but it was still on a fee for service basis.

We shall see. I would rather do a little work of high caliber than a lot of work that would be cursory and have little chance of effecting long-term chance in the lives of the folks I serve.

Thank you again, and I will keep posted periodically an update. If there are even 6 individuals in a similar developmental or age level, a small clinic might even be a possibility.
