Social life
I'm a recently divorced man (up in years) who has been offered a well paying position (excess of $100,000) on St Thomas. I was wondering if there is a respectable dating opportunity on St Thomas. I don't want to accept a position and wind up living by myself for the next 3 years or so. Many thanks.
three to one ratio women to men
Bombi, I think you have that backwards?
singtruck, we have a couple of sayings that should give you a better picture of what dating is like here. The men like to say, "You never lose your girlfriend, you just lose your turn." Whereas the women say, "The odds are good, but the goods are odd."

Number 2
St. Croix, Virgin Islands
54% women
The Virgin Islands are a double-barreled paradise, dishing up unbelievable beaches and vistas along with a high female contingent. Not only that, it hosts two million visitors a year, many of them upper-class women with their cute daughters in tow.
The best thing to do in the Islands is sneak away from the unoriginal tourists and discover the hidden coves. Avoid the overdeveloped St. Thomas Island and find a woman in St. Croix who is eager to tag along as you scout for secluded beaches, snorkel in Coki Bay, and trek through the jungles of the preserved St. John park.
What not to miss: Buck Island, an islet off St. Croix, is the most underappreciated of the Virgin Islands, where the best beaches and snorkeling opportunities can be found.
OK, it's definitely backwards for STJ - 3 or 4 men for every woman. I assumed the same for the other islands as well -- learn something new every day!
Anyone know the ratio for STT, which is what the gentleman is actually asking about?
Don`t know the present ratio for STT, but 20 years ago, the ratio was so bad, the most unattractive lady's would always be in search of a BBD(bigger better deal).
And, white woman are always in fashion as a temporary trophy here!(I`m ready for the deluge of hate for that, but just telling it like it is).
And yes, I believe it is a good ratio for guys in STX!
Nearly every time I`m there, some girl gives me her cell # for professional reasons(or just to call if I get lost/miss my plane back).
That doesn`t happen to this old, fat guy in STT too often!
While I'm quite happily in a relationship now, I kind of laughed at my friends who would complain about the ratio on St. Thomas. The numbers that everyone above have quoted are all correct, though on the surface contradictory. The 3 or 4 to 1 ratio that is often given is in reference to Continentals (people who have moved down from the states). Tourists, Continentals, and Locals tend to stick to their groups dating-wise, though there is some overlap (especially between Tourists and Continentals but while fun, let's just say its not the way you're going to meet your wife).
Frankly speaking, if you're going to be making $100,000+, all you have to do is buy a small power boat that can make it to Jost for day trips and then hang out in the bars on East End. I guarentee you'll have plenty of bikini bimbos clamoring for a ride . You wouldn't be the first to do it.
Curious as to what type of position pays over 100K, I think I need to get out of nursing and do what your doing.....If you need a date let me know....HeHeHehehe!
Cindy
Likely At a $100K it is some EDC company that is getting such huge tax breaks they can afford to pay unseemly salaries. But maybe not?
There are plenty of women if it is a party mode you are asking for as a social life - serious or long term committed relationship? a different story entirely.
Happy Hunting!
Edited because my reply makes no sense after Prefer2Sail removed his.
