So many tiny earthquakes...
After the explosion at Hovensa I signed-up for disaster warnings. Mostly just to know but also to he able to volunteer if needed. There have been small (<3 magnitude) quakes every day and often several a day in PR, VI, or DR. No big deal. But today there have been over twenty. What's up? Does this suggest a bigger one coming? I'm not running to the airport but I am curious.
Very interesting, thanks for the update! Hopefully just some little tremors with nothing big to follow!
LOL, don't forget to associate the incidence of earthquakes with your signing up for the alerts! The truth is that we live in a geologically active region where small tremors have always happened frequently. Almost all of the quakes happen deep under the sea and would be unnoticed by anyone if not for the alerts.
About those alerts, you can set the threshold at which they alert you, as I've done. Because of the 3/2 power scale of the moment magnitude scale there isn't much point (other than curiosity) to alerts for every rumble less than 4 . There are an estimated 49000 quakes per year world wide between 3.0 and 3.9, and 9000 quakes PER DAY at 2.9 or below.
Someone once posted on this board that lots of small quakes was a good thing, energy being released slowly over time versus a massive amount of energy being released all at once. I have no idea if this is true or not but if it makes you feel better about all the small earthquakes run with it 🙂

Thanks SunnyCaribe! I just changed my alert level to 4.0'and above. I was never at all afraid but thirty warnings in a day...
My apologies. My energy is of such great magnitude the world shakes when I enter. The VI understands I'll be there shortly (this weekend)---it's shaking in fear. :@)

Funny but I must use Facebook a little more than I thought. I was looking for the "like" button on quice's post, lol!
