Snorkeling near Gallows Bay Marina?
On Google Earth, I just discovered what looks like a ship wreck/abandonment/never_finished touching the shore, at the east end of Gallows Bay Marina. It looks like there is parking nearby, off of Mt Welcome Rd. Has anyone tried snorkeling this wreck?
It's a public Park, with concrete picnic tables and a small dock. Plenty of Parking in the lot that is never used, locals use the street. Locals fish there with nets. The bow of the boat sticks out of the water and a real eye sore(td)
I have often wondered what the history of that (boat?) is. It looks to be about 200 ft long. Does anyone know?
I have never been comfortable spending time in the water in that area because of long term pollution. What with moored boats, sewage outflow and shoreline runoff. Not the cleanest place on island.
Thanks Ms Information, that's one of the issues I wondered about. Do you think the same concern should be raised about the Fred. pier, because of the cruise ships and proximity to the city?
