Small Business Payroll Service?

Good morning all. I have been trying to find a solution for this for a while with no luck so figured I would turn to you guys (probably should have done that initially).

I have a small business that is based in Dallas but I live in St. Croix. I currently use a company called PayCycle to do my payroll. However, being an employee of the company, PayCycle does not allow me to change my employee address to a VI address, therefore taxes aren't being allocated correctly to the VI for my paychecks.

Small business owners, who do you guys use to do your Payroll?

SurePayroll does not support the VI and I have gotten the run-around from ADP and Paychex.

Thanks in advance.

Chad

A small business should be doing them in house. Payroll is very very easy. Pick up a copy of Quickbooks.

If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself hire a bookkeeper that comes once every week or every other week depending on your pay schedule. I don't think you'll have to pay them more then a hour or two.

Edited....Read your post too quickly the first time. What you can try, (we used to do this before quickbooks had the vi statecode) we would enter the city and state on the city line of the address and leave the state blank.

Are you having an accountant do your taxes? Because if this is your business and you are working here and there, you probably should be paying some of your taxes to the virib. LIke your withholding and possibly gross receipts. Be careful, try Jim Sheets CPA office.

Thanks for the response Betty. I appreciate it.

I have been doing payroll online for about 8 years. It takes me roughly 5 minutes to do it each month. That is why I do it online. They handle all the filings and do the direct deposits and provide my end of tax year forms. I have never used a bookkeeper but I may look into it, and I do use Quickbooks.

You are correct in that I need to have my withholding end up at the VIRIB which is why I am looking for an easy solution to this. Unfortunately one doesn't appear to exist.

I do have a CPA do my end of year tax returns for my business.

Also, for others finding this post Quickbooks Payroll and Wells Fargo also do not support VI employees. This is in addition to PayCycle and SurePayroll mentioned above.

I was afraid there wasn't a easy solution but paying your withholding is a very minor inconvenience here. I'll try to attach the link where you can print out the form. You can set it up for monthly or bi monthly payment and just go pay it whenever you have to go to Kmart. 🙂 Make sure you bring a copy to get stamped. The line is always short and moves very quickly. Takes less then 5 minutes usually.

VIRIB is behind Kmart. 🙂 If you don't own a business here the only time you probably go there is to get your taxes stamped before April 16th.

Thanks -- I had imagined that somehow Kmart had some unusual IRB portal.
