Single mothers in STT
I just want to put a general question out there. I've read some posts from single mothers that were contemplating moving to the islands and I was wondering if there were any, who have made the move, that would like to share their experiences.
I lived on STT years ago, before I had a child, and now I'm considering moving back. I have a law degree and would love to practice in the Virgin Islands and raise my 5 year old daughter in a cleaner, less stressful environment than nyc.
My goal is to have a better quality of life for the both of us, good school (read the posts on that subject), babysitter when I need one, reasonable work schedule, and quality down-time with my daughter doing various activities and going to cultural events around the islands. My main focus is to balance work and family life and that is nearly impossible to do in nyc as a recent graduate.
I appreciate any feedback.
I shouldn't have limited my question to just single mothers because I'm interested in hearing all parent's perspectives.
Can anyone out there tell me if they've been able to achieve a better work/family balance in the islands then they might have been able to do in the states? I understand that it varies by profession but I just want to get a general sense.
