sign inflation?
Every election year brings a swarm of signs littering the roadsides. This year, not only are the signs numerous, but they are HUGE. Next we will have billboards...
I'd rather those than the strip club one that keeps re-appearing at the entrance to my neighborhood and across the street from a school. I'm no prude (and not a stranger to clubs in my younger days) but I hate "Tootsie's" being my subsivision marquee. Sorry to sidetrack, maybe I hate all signs that stay up more than 7 days.
Chris: I am with you on those signs. Don't say the name and give them more advertising!
I wonder if there are laws restricting advertising with sexual inuendo in residential areas?
One of the senators, Myron Jackson, introduced legislation to limit signs, but I don't know the status. Call Mrs. Turnbull at Public Works to complain about signs.
There are definitely laws concerning the placement and size of signage in the territory and permits are required. However, like most everything else here, there is no enforcement of these laws whatsoever and putting up signage is a free for all. I know because my company makes a lot of signs. But don't think we signmakers are getting rich this election season. The vast majority of these campaign signs and printed campaign materials are made off island so we get no benefit at all.
All it takes is an enterprising person to import a container full of paint ball guns. Let's have some fun this election season. 😎
