Should I bring?
I am 3wks away from having the packers and movers come to my house and I am trying to get rid of things I might not need. I have three bicyles, two hybrid and one beach cruiser. From the time I have spent on St. Thomas, I havent seen too many areas where my wife and I might bicycle. In the opinion of locals, should I even bother to bring the bikes? or just get rid of them here. Thanks
Those guys are right, again, Im not an islander yet!!

Right now I bike frequently because I have the boardwalk here that runs 8miles along the Jersey Shore and lots of paths. As for moving them,my wifes company is packing and shipping our goods and will store them until we find a home. I just figured if there was no where to ride them, then it might not be worth bringing them. I also dont want them just sitting in the garage for 5-7yrs while we live on St. Thomas.
I boxed and shipped my bike last year to STX. It cost me around $35 bucks to have it boxed, and another $150 to have it shipped via USPS. It sat on my deck for six months and then I had it reassembled (another $35 bucks), rode it once in a charity event, and then it went back on my deck. I have a number of friends who've been hit by cars while riding bikes. No sidewalks, twisty roads, inattentive drivers. Unless you're a die-hard, can't-live-without-it kinda guy (or intend to participate in the Ironman on STX), I wouldn't recommend bringing it.
Thanks for the input. I sold the bikes and purchased a spin bike. I figure I should be safe from the taxi drivers in my house.
Bicycling on STT is not really possible. You don't see many cyclists on STT. Very hilly and dangerous curves on narrow roads.
STX on the other hand does offer some roads where you can ride, but it is still hard work ( good exercise ) .
