Shipping vehicles and goods together by container?
Has anyone had any luck shipping their vehicles and goods in a single container to the USVI? And who did you use? This seems like the most cost-efficient means, but I can only find companies doing goods and vehicles separately.
Nope, they will not ship everything together anymore.
@tracyggg once idea is to ship your vehicle using RO-RO (roll on roll off) no container. It's way cheaper and unless it's brand new car you will likely have a good experience. We shipped a nearly new jeep and it went quite smoothly, was very cost effective, and honestly I don't even think we had the tiniest of scratches. We used Blue Ocean and this was about 3 years ago.
@VIpirate Thank you! That's likely what we'll end up doing. It just seemed like less hassle to pack a container and move the entire lot together. Now it's looking like our goods and vehicles might even leave from different ports. It'll work out, but I can't wait to be past this part 😀
ive seen people talking about shipping them all together. i guess they get a container, pack it and ship it??
i used crowley for the car and vi cargo for the goods to get things down here.
good luck
spearitcontainers.com or info@spearitcontainers.com i think they are still offering such services . As they ship on regular basis to the Island
I'm not aware of a company that presently let's you ship a vehicle and household goods in a single container. Even when I did it about 3-years ago they weren't able to go in the same container.
Instead we shipped the vehicle by truck to Jacksonville port and then RO-RO ship to STT and was cleared, titled, inspected, and registered by a local agent and delivered to our home. Blue Ocean handled the stateside truck shipping of the car and the RO-RO on water shipment. This method turned out WAY cheaper than a container. Separately, we shipped two different containers from the mainland to STT with Blue Ocean handling everything to get it to STT and then a local clearing agent arranged the clearance, delivery to our home and the unloading.
We used Beep Business in STT as the local agent at the time, but tragically the owner and his immediate family were killed in a helicopter crash on island, so not sure if they are still in business.
Beep Business in STT Still in Business !!
