Good Evening ALL--It has been a few months but we are taking the plunge to STX!! Wife got a job offer and so it begins...we are MOVING to STX! First things first, we thank everyone on here for the info provided as it has helped us tremendously thus far. To the topic of vehicle shipping, I have narrowed it down to VI Cargo and Blue Ocean Transport. Pros/Cons for either as they are both very helpful over the phone and pricing is comparable. Next we need a 3 to 4 month rental and this is proving to be challenging during high season for our $800-1000 budget. Efficiency would be fine 1 bed 1 bath. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Moving down Jan. 12th. MM

We shipped through SeaStar shipping. Shipped 1 40' container with all our household goods and a vehicle inside. Best option if shipping goods and a vehicle. I've used tropical in the past as well for a vehicle. Great time to ship as the fuel surcharge should be pretty low considering the price of oil right now.

Good day John! Thank you for your response. I don't think we will be moving that amount of household goods to require a 40' container. Mostly interested in the shipment of the vehicle at this present moment. Both VI Cargo and Blue Ocean seem very helpful and both within dollars of each other. Estimating approx. $3500 with freight from my residence in New Orleans area to the port. Does not seem to extreme.

Wow, Paradise Freight quoted me $1750 to ship an average vehicle from Miami to here. You could make the drive and save well over $1000, unless your vehicle is a dumptruck or something.

Sunny...the actual "Freight" portion is $1475...the total I mentioned above is all inclusive with road taxes, transport from New Orleans, misc. fees, import taxes, insurance etc...it all adds up. Sorry if the previous post was mis-leading.

This is awesome to know! The BF was just asking me about this yesterday and I wasn't sure if it was possible to ship a car and household goods in 1 container. Makes it much more possible for me to bring my bed (I'm a bed snob...)

We shipped with VI Cargo and highly recommend them. We took our household goods in a UHaul to their dock in Miami and they unloaded, pallitized, and loaded the container for us. Great service when we arrived here at STX as well. We used Farrell to deliver and unload our container at our home and we were very satisfied with their service as well. Safe journey.

My vehicle left yesterday for the Jacksonville port then onto STX. We are using Blue Ocean Transport and Ferroll's as well. Hoping all goes as planned. I will give a review once all is settled!

My family and I are looking to relocate to St. Croix within the next couple of months. Been researching and reading to see the best way to make this happen. I would appreciate any tips or tricks. My wife and I are both prior military so moving is not scary just like to do it efficiently and safely. Plus I have 3 kids to go with us.
Thanks for your time and advice.

do you have or need jobs? are your kids in school? do any of you have major health issues?

i used crowley for the car and vi cargo for the household goods. did not ship very much furniture-just a few pieces

car was about 2000.00 can not remember what vi cargo was.

but would recommend both

Thanks for your time and advice.

I'm a little unclear what advice you're seeking but did you read all the information to hand in the pull-down menus top of this page? That's a good place to start and then you can find other answers on the forum on specifics using the search engine. If you get stuck and can't find an answer, holler for help!
