I am relocating to the Virgin Islands and am curious if anyone has suggestions for companies who ship cars from the states? I also heard there are companies who can handle registration, etc. once your car arrives at the port in St. Thomas. Please let me know if you have recommendations!

Crowley is who we used in 2007. Had to drive the car from Ohio to to Port Everglades, FL (Ft Lauderdale). Their quote was about $300 less than Tropical which also ships out of south eastern Florida. Then there is V.I.Cargo who recently got into shipping cars from states to Virgin Islands. We had to register our own car but perhaps things have changed since 2007. Hope this helps.

Many companies will register your car for you (and do all kinds of other paperwork), but you'll definitely pay for it -- and don't forget the road tax! To ship our Ford pick up we would have had to pay around $700 in road taxes before we even drove it off the dock. We've decided to buy a car down in STT and then sell it when/if we leave. 🙂
