Shipping Cars with Liens
As i read through some of these threads I keep noticing folks saying something about paying off the loan before shipping it to STT. If you have a lien on a vehicle, say in TX, by a local lender - do you need to pay off that loan prior to shipping the vehicle to STT? Just curious as we have two paid off and two on loan and we were planning to keep one that is paid for and one that has a lien.
No one here can give you a definitive answer. It depends solely on your lender/lien holder. Some will let you ship the car to the USVI's other won't. So contact them.
Yep, It's all up to the lender. When my wife and I moved down here years ago, we got a letter from our lender saying it was ok to ship the vehicle down and used that letter when registering the vehicle. Without that letter you can't register the vehicle as you don't have the title yet.

And you will not have to worry about registering it as it will not ship without a release from the lien holder.
