Shipping a new PC?
Any recommendations? My usual source of electronics, B&H Photo, has increased their freight charges to the USVI well beyond the postage cost. They would ship for free to Paradise freight, but then there is the delay, ocean freight (also gone up recently) and duties, which they may or may not apply when dealing with a forwarder.
Has anyone found a good work-around for getting a desktop pc to stx?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I've bought through BestBuy in the past. Also check OfficeMax online for specials; you have to show them the online deal in the store in order for them to honor it.
www.newegg.com is a great source if you know what your looking for.
Just an average PC? I would also check out officemax. I am Apple and always have to use PF. Last time I bought a new MBPro my parents brought it down with me. Actually I JUST bought one the states a couple weeks ago but it was defective. What a nightmare.

You can also just order online for store pickup.

Do they do that now? They wouldn't on STT a few years ago. Maybe they are catching up to the 21st century at last!

Yes, STT OfficeMax does store pickup of online orders, usually within a couple hours of order placement.

I need a max spec computer for large file handling. I feel a degree of your pain. I have a maxed out MBP that is a bit over a year old which is misbehaving. My last mac 15 years ago did great until it gave up similarly and catastrophically. They just work, until they don't. So I'm headed back to PC which is dirtier and fussier, but which is almost infinitely user-repairable, upgradeable, and much, much cheaper.
But man am I gonna miss FCPX.
First of all, I would NEVER buy anything from Apple.
(Disclosure: I'm a business owner) I have bought many PC's online and usually have them custom built to my specs. I've most often bought direct from HP and also Amazon. I have them shipped to Paradise Freight. It couldn't be any easier.
I have also bought several PC's from Computer Solutions over the years. I like Alex the owner and, if I need a vanilla PC, his are great right out of the box.
I like PC's because I can repair them myself and I have tons are spare parts if I need them. I keep a few power supplies on hand because that is the most vulnerable part here in the VI. I have every operating system in daily use from XP to Win 10.
