Hello again, Could anyone tell me the cost of shipping a container e.g. a 40 ft. container to St. Croix. We are currently in Kansas City. Is there companies that will provide "door to door" service? Also what can I put in such a cointainer. Could I put my old hotrod in such a container, or just personal belongings. Plus I've seen some mention of additional charges, taxes? duties? customs? Plus I have been trying to decide if I should take and or how I could get my 26 ft.Cruiser boat to St.Croix. Could that be put in a container? Thanks for the information.

A 1929 model A chopped and channeled with a 351 V8 and Nitrous. Figured that would get some looks on the island. Thanks for asking.

M & A -

Be aware that if your hotrod is your baby, it may very well fall into a pothole and never be seen again....but my husband wants to meet you if you bring it - he left behind his '53 Buick Special, Beulah, in Arkansas and misses her terribly...I am a poor second place.

I would contact Lee Fleming with Managed Freight...I would think your car would have to be street legal, so you could have some difficulty getting it licensed. Lee will license your car for you if it is able to be...it's about $150. I have never braved DMV myself, but I hear it is quite an experience.

40' containers - if you will do a search, you may find some info that will give you a best guess...but we moved from west central Arkansas. We paid local movers to load a container since it has to be on a dock or truck...and yes, they took it away, sent it to Florida, and 3 weeks later a truck and container was sitting in our driveway unloading. We brought WAY too much personal stuff, including furniture for a 1500 sq. ft. house, and 1 Jeep Cherokee in our container and we could have easily fit in someone else's household, I think! Sorry, can't help you on the boat - if it would even GO in a container, it would most definitely be a different one...! Our total moving costs for coming from AR was somewhere in the $9000 range, but we packed our own boxes...and you can't get as much insurance if you pack yourself.

Lee will ask you to locate a mover on your end and he will coordinate it from there. I can probably find all of the paperwork he sent us with regard to moving if you want it - you can PM me privately...that was the only hang up, we had started packing boxes before we got our list of do's and dont's and had to re-do some stuff.

Good luck!
