Anyone done this? Have recommendations on shippers?
This is for probably about half a container worth of stuff.
household goods mainly and tools.

Thanks!

Try calling Paradise Freight. I spoke with them about shipping an oversize item from CA (which never eventuated) but they seemed very good to deal with. 340.713.0033
I've certainly switched to using them instead of VI Cargo for packages. Better rates.

Funny...we've gotten consistently better prices from VI Cargo than quotes on the same shipments from Paradise. We'd rather deal with Paradise, but money's money. Small boxes to things like dishwashers and even bigger. Have a shipment coming now of some building materials, and the difference was 20-25%.
I assumed Tropical planned to undercut Paradise to put them out of business and then raise their prices, but if others have had prices go the opposite way it's just strange.
We did make our own arrangements with the US freight shipment to Florida though on this last item, so no idea if you have them do the whole thing.

We used Paradise Freight and they were awesome when we shipped an entire container. Helped us every step of the way, even with wording on the invoices. We now regularly use them for small shipments and never have any issues.

From California?
When you say every step of the way does that include aranging for companies to pack things from the house and load them into the container?

Thanks

My husband actually rented a moving van and drove towing our car from Tahoe to Florida. But paradise hand held us with the writing of every invoice so we would not get charged customs...how to label everything...once In Florida, they packed it all on the pallet , loaded his car, and all our belongings and we picked them up in a couple weeks. They cleared customs for us. They even found a used container on island for us to buy, then reloaded everything back into it, so it could be delivered to the house. That way we took our time unpacking, since I had been
Iiving in a furnished home for three years...it took some time to clear out the stuff I no longer needed . We use them at least monthly for things we order stateside. Always helpful and inexpensive.

We moved from central California in 2012.

We wanted to pack and load our own container.

Contacted many moving companies and they wanted to do it all or none of and the prices ranges form $17,000 to $26,000 for packing, loading and shipping a 20 foot container.

I contacted a company that I did business with for a company I owned and had them deliver a container to my ranch with a loading crew where they packed the container with the belongings that we had packaged.

That service with shipping cost $6,600. When the container arrived we hired a crew from Brandon Transfer to clear customs, deliver and unload the container to us up our drive way at the top of Rattan, that was fun. The cost of that was $1,700. Total was $8,300 and the was only one small mirror that was broken!

PM me for more info.
