Senatorial Candidates STT
Just the facts. And the courts obviously agreed when dismissing Olive et al's case. Whether you like DeJongh/his administration or not, even the suggestion that his expenditures on absolutely anything could in any way surpass those of Emperor Schneider is hilarious.
There was no way that any APPOINTED judge was going to let that case proceed. From the start judges were recusing themselves from the case. So, I wasn't surprised that it was dismissed.
I'm willing to bet that the expenditures spent on security enhancements to deJongh's house is SIGNIFICANTLY greater than anything Schneider and to suggest otherwise would be very unwise.
I seriously doubt that. As I recall Schneider also had renovations to his private home and installed his guard gate as well as have a large fancy for expensive antiques. Why Schneider isn't serving time is quite beyond me tho most of his cronies did bite the dust in many cases.
I will vote for a STJ candidate and then bullet vote for one person out of the bunch for STT.
I am keenly disappointed in the level of competent and trustworthy candidates running but very happy that some Senators have chosen not to run again.
If someone running is not willing to lower the already exhorbitant salary Senators presenly recieve, then they are in it for the bucks, not the public service which is supposed to be an honor.

The man couldn't even go to the grocery store without the huge cavalcade of limousines complete with uniformed VIPD motorcyclists fore and aft. His excesses and self indulgences were legend. I'd lay a healthy bet that poster Cruz is dead wrong on this one and doesn't know the half of that whole episode!
I'm hearing good things about Carol Berry. She's on fb.

prove it.....I haven't seeing any reports etc., that says Schneider used govt money to make improvements to his personal home. However, I've seen detailed reports for deJongh. Including the federal Inspector General report.
chees n bread, meson - how long you live here?
full disclosure here: i am a volunteer on this site, for the virgin islands public television system.
there are meet the candidates videos postes, as well as the statements and platforms for the majority of the candidates for office on the web site "decision 2012" - http://www.wtjx.org/election/
The court decided that the plaintiff against deJongh did not have standing. It is a matter for prosecution only. But the federal inspector general did say that the money that the governor used some $500000 was "improperly removed". Lawrence Olive is a watchdog and claims to have photos of an executives illicit affair at the local university. He was offered hush jobs by the executive multiple times before the last election. Olive deserves serious consideration. He gets my vote. His platform focuses on ridding the government and the senate of corruption. The WTJX link will take you to his platform. Brochures are expensive. He has describes his excellent platform in detail on his radio appearances.

Unfortunately you don't know when or where the candidates will be on the air, and those are paid ads so no challenging questions if there is a radio host.

Pls don't mention WTJX again. Again, the people on STT don't get it. STX thread of similar name is what I was hoping for on STT. Wish I could move.
A friend sent this to me this morning and I thought I would share since he in running in the STT/STJ district.
I could not copy and insert the picture. Thought the below was great. He will get my vote for a STT/STJ candidate,
I would have him at the very top of the list. :@)
WANTED
The person shown on the left and known by the name ofAndreas Tietjemanaged, for reasons unknown to ourHonorable Board of Elections, to get on the Ballot as Candidate #10 for Senator.
Beware of this candidate:
• Andreas Tietje, along with some other new candidates, want to repeal Act 6905, which
gave us a modest salary increase of $20,000 and some special increases in our
retirement benefits. We had to work through the Christmas holidays and even had to
increase the salary for the governor from $80,000 to $150,000 just to get his signature
on our bill on 12/28/2008. As you can appreciate, we work hard for our money.
• This candidate wants us to reduce the members of our senate from 15 to 9. Is this guy
totally out of his mind? Doesn’t he understand that 15 senators cannot do the business
for our people? What we need are more senators, preferably one per every 1,000
residents to get things done. The more the merrier.
• Another craziness: This guy wants to introduce term limits to two consecutive terms for
our senators. This is about the dumbest idea he presents to our voters. Four years in
the Senate are too short to establish a solid pay-off system for us to make a good
living after we resign or get thrown out of office. Some of us senators are smarter then
others to establish our financial goals within two terms, but most of us need more time.
Does he want us to steal? It took us four plus years to hide $6.9 Million and now we
might have to give it back. This cannot be a solution.
• Then this idiot comes along and was not even born and raised here and tries to tell us
what to do. We know what to do since we do it over and over again. AND IT WORKS.
• This guy also questions the qualifications of some of our candidates to hold the office
of a senator. What does he know? He spent his entire life in the corporate world.
• We can do better without him. We can be proud to have 20,000 plus people employed
in our government. Our budgets might have been off for the past twenty years, but our
children we raise can deal with our debts. They can look forward to a bright future on
our islands and should pay us back for what we paid to raise them.
If you do not believe us, read it yourself on this
Website: AndreasForSenatorVI.com (tu)(tu)
We do not need changes, we like our islands the way they are.
Published by the Save our Senators Coalition. We accept donations or Frequent Flyer Miles
for a ONE WAY TICKET to get this person off our islands once and for all. If possible, we will
try not to misappropriate your contributions.
Personally, I would vote for Andreas Tietje #10 and Alan Friedman #17 from the STT/STJ district.
Here's another link to Freidman. http://stthomassource.com/content/news/elections-2012/2012/10/02/senate-alan-friedman
Thanks for posting recommendations, Alana. I'll check those candidates, though Friedman had 0 online presence last I checked. Not good planning, IMO.
