secret harbor
how is the studio of the secret harbor? thanks,
I know you are looking for information on studio. But, I stayed in the one bedroom and absolutely loved the place. The one bedroom was extremely large. It is a smaller resort with a real beachy-getaway feel. The view was spectacular. The people are very friendly. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
We would like to spend a few days in STT before our flight home in October. Did you have a car? Any restaurants nearby/within walking distance?
Thanks,
Sharon
where was this place? got an email adress? how much was it to stay there?
Randy
Hello Sharon,
There is a restaurant at Secret Harbor... and you can take a short cab ride to Red Hook for several other restaurants.
Have a great time.
For vacation planning you might visit our other web site that is dedicated to planning vacations to the Virgin Islands. Cut and Paste the following link

I am also a huge Sevret Harbor fan. We stayed in the handicapped accessible room (no kitchen - just mini fridge and wet bar, plus the manager's microwave) in December 2003 for 10 days and adored every minute of it. I don't reember the exact rate we paid but do recall it was very competitive for off-season prices. You can price it out yourself by visiting:

The room itself was amazing -- the bathroom was at least 15'x15' -- terrific for this wheechair user. Ernest, the general manger, went out of his way to make us feel welcome and to make sure we had everything we needed when we needed/wanted it -- he even scolded us one night for going to the bar to get ice on our own instead of calling him!
The room was right on the beach, and the snorkeling there was so good we spent most of our time in the waters right off the hotel beach (we did take a day trip to Trunk Bay on St. John -- another terrific snorkeling site). There is a dive shop on site that offers equipment rentals, lessonsn dive trips, etc.
The restaurant onsite is the Blue Moon Cafe, an all outdoor facility that overlooks the harbor and has a full bar. The food is excellent always -- prices for lunch were reasonable but dinner was in what we consider the "pricey/frou frou food" zone, so we only ate dinner there once. (Our two entrees and non-alcoholic drinks came to about $75 minus tip.) Lunch portions were large, tasty, and, as I said, reasonable priced. Service was also good -- just remember that you're on an island and are there to enjoy instead of rushing.
Houskeeping and maintenance staff were friendly, and did a wonderful job. The managment also throws a nice happy hour party with rum punch, munchies like hot wings, calypso band (get Ernest to sing), and trivia games for door prizes. There is a masseuse who works out of the hotel if you want to be pampered a little while you are there.
We strongly recommend renting a car to stay at Secret Harbor. That will enable you to make trips to the best grocery store on the island (IMHO), the Food Center, which is about 5 minutes from the hotel. (Buying your own food really helps those on a budget stay on their budget.) The car also give you the ability to pop into Red Hook and check out the Love Shack bar or to take the ferry to St. John, and to make a day out of visiting Coral World, a nifty aquarium with a lovely beach nearby that is only about a 15 minute drive from the hotel. The hotel is a bit of a drive from both the airport and Charlotte Amalie -- if you plan to make day trips, you'll end up paying as much or more for taxis as you would for renting a car. (FYI -- we found no need at all for an SUV to get around --a regular car worked fine for everywhere we went.)
Hope this helps -- we'd love to know how your trip goes. We loved it so much we just moved down here for good (to STX, though, not to STT).

And if you need some added incentive you can find a photo shot from across the bay directly at Secret Harbor, as well as the newest shot - the Flamboyant tree just to the right of the entrance to Secret Harbor.
