searching on eBay for items that ship here
Good day all,
I'm tired of sorting through eBay listings marked "Does not ship to US protectorates". Yet I don't see any way to search only for sellers who DO ship here.
Does anybody know of a way to do this?
No specific category for that. Even some advertisers who fall into the "ship worldwide" category exclude the protectorates.
If you sort the results by "price and shipping lowest first" it will give you the people who ship here first. Its not perfect but generally works. When you check the shipping options for the item if it says usps you are good to go. If its fedex or ups then move on.

No help at all in my experience.

Interesting. I buy probably 5 items a week on ebay and the first thing i do after i do my search is adjust the sort order to this. It saves me alot of time and money. Id be interested to hear what others have to say but i also know you are a generally negative type of person so i guess im not really surprised

Obviously you don't know me at all as I'm not a negative person at all - quite the opposite. I've been buying from eBay for years, am glad you've found that what you're buying is more easily accessible using that sorting method but it hasn't made things any easier for me, that's all.

The person was asking if theres an easier way to find sellers on ebay that will ship here. I offered my method that works for me and may work for other people as well.
Your contribution to the subject was negative and has no value to anyone that is interested in the topic so why even bother saying it. Thats being a negative person period.
So having a different experience which leads one to a different opinion which one then expresses, automatically categorizes one as an all-around negative person. Maybe you might bear that in mind when you offer an opinion which conflicts with someone else's. 😀

The person was asking for help. I offered a potential way to help them. Please give me one, just one, way in which your negative comment is helpful to the person asking or anyone else who reads the post looking for help with this topic. I wont hold my breath
Thanks, gringojj, for the suggestion. Will give it a shot.

Saints and little fishes! The poster is perfectly capable of trying the method which works for you, I simply said it didn't work for me and you immediately turned it into an unprovoked, unnecessary direct personal attack. Hold the popcorn.

A non positive contribution is a negative one. I rest my case
Non positive can be neutral, negative, or completely unrelated sunshine. Off to corral my unicorn, we have rainbows to spread today

A differing opinion can indeed be a negative but your comment, "but i also know you are a generally negative type of person so i guess im not really surprised" is an unwarranted and uncalled-for personal attack which precipitated this inane back and forth - which for my part stops here as I continue my day with the optimism I wakened with. It's a wonderful grey and drizzly day on St Thomas which my plants love. :@)

You still havent told me one way in which your comment was helpful to anyone looking for help on this subject
Did you rest your case or not??
If a seller doesn't ship here or shipping is outrageous because they're using a service that calculates VI as international, I always contact the seller to see if they're willing to make an exception. Probably 99% of the time they agree. One of the reasons I usually prefer ebay over Amazon.
The sorting by price has not helped me.
I have had some success contacting the seller, but it's hit or miss. Usually the smaller time sellers will work with me. When they don't, I do tell them they might be missing out on more sales than mine by not shipping here, and give them the whole USPS spiel. Some just avoid shipping here because they think they have to jump through international red-tape hoops.
One thing I did do was contact e-Bay and beg for a side-bar filter. I got a nice auto-response, but my request went into the usual black hole.
I say lets have a beer and forget about it.
I know, I know, no help at all, but that is the story of my life.

Thanks, Ms411 and w8ing4.
Sorting by price didn't help for the items I was searching for today.
Ms411, I've had good results with contacting sellers as well. But unless it's something very hard to find elsewhere, I usually move on rather than hassle with the back and forth of communication that can sometimes take days.
watruw8ing4, I have made the same request. Maybe one day.... At least now I know I'm not just missing something obvious in the search options.
If they don't ship down here, I use Paradise Freight. If it gets to them by noon on Wednesday then it arrives on STX by Tuesday.

That's exactly what I was going to post, Rotor.
Everyone ships to Miami...why these people stress over such things in beyond my comprehension.

I wouldn't say anyone is stressed. I know I'm not. It's just an annoyance, especially for small and/or inexpensive packages. To ship to Paradise is extra steps, extra trip, extra cost, and, often, extra wait time. eBay already has an indicator for sellers not shipping to US territories. It's just that you don't see it until you click on the individual item, which is a time-waster.
I didn't mean stressed in a derogatory way. I just never worry about shipping almost always have something to pick up every week at Paradise Freight from Amazon or some other mainland outlet. Its so convenient and cost effective.
I wish Paradise Freight, or any of the other convenient, cost-effective shippers, would bring something right to St John. It's rarely worth the hassle to go to STT to pick up something, so I just look for shippers who will deliver to my PO Box. You all on da bigger islands got it made!
