I am actively working towards my goal of moving to STX the end of January. I have done alot of planning for this and feel like I have most everything under control, however my housing situation fell through and now I am looking for another place....What is the average rent in STX? I am finding that most places are 800-plus.... I don't want a condo, or even anything that nice...just a place to stay that's safe and where I can have my dog. Even a studio would be fine...but everything I find on the internet is super nice and expensive....
Any ideas of where I could get info on places for rent that aren't so high end????? I feel like I could be more effective on the island...but can't get there until I move....and don't want to fly down, fly back home then fly down again... I have friends on the island looking as well...but things are moving so slow....island time 🙂 in my search and I'm starting to get anxious.

Do a search for DanielB_STX (for the past year) & PM him. He often has rentals & is very helpful. Also, post over on the Classifieds & look around there. You might find something. Good luck!

If you have friends on island looking for you that is the very best you can do. Usually the better priced rentals are word of mouth or posted on local bulletin boards. You can access the Cruzan Trader through the Daily News web site, but it dosen't usually have a lot to offer.
Keep asking your friends on a regular basis, things change day to day. Even in this terribly overpriced rental market, a gem occasionally surfaces.
