SDaughter flt info
Hello Sadie,
Here is some flt info. Did quite a bit of research. Pretty much everything off the east coast is in the 500 dollar range doesn't matter if it is round trip or one way. The cool thing is I got creative and out of Orlando (Daytona was way spendy!) Delta has some great fares to San Juan, PR starting at 92 dollars one way (not including taxes). This fare is valid until Dec 18. This is also a walk up fare which means if that class of service was available tomorrow (which I booked just to see)it prices out at 108.40 with taxes.
There are also fares from Orlando to PR on American starting at 159.00 one way.
I checked PR to STT and Cape Air starts at 109.00 one way, AA 140.00 one way, and on Air Sunshine's web site they had 85.00 oneway posted (www.airsunshine.com).
I also investigated someone's suggestion about Chicago O'hare and United, US Air, and Continental all have fares starting at 199.00, however it is with multiple connections when originating in Orlando with an overnight stay in Chicago.
Here are some other highlights
American out of Miami has RT starting at 370.00 and OW starts @ 466.00
US Airways out of Charlotte starts @ 525 for RT/523 OW
Similar prices in the 500 dollar range for RT and OW on Continental out of Newark
AA and UA out of Washington DC/Baltimore.
My suggestion for best price is to buy a one way to Puerto Rico then one way to STT. Be aware that Cape Air, Air Sunshine, Air St Thomas, Seaborne Airlines are all very small planes and will most likely have strict baggage rules for weights. However AA won't be as strict. Please note that these fare quotes do not include taxes or other port facility charges, they are just base price.
If there is anything I can do to help you further you can email me at Lrocksunlover@cs.com. Good luck.
Elle rock, <----------- You are awesome!
This is great news! I hadn't thought of purchasing the separate one-way tickets. Very creative. Also, thanks for the reminder regarding the strick baggage rules for the smaller planes from PR. That's surely something to keep in mind. Now all we have to do is set a date for him to move and purchase the ticket. My company is paying for my ticket.
That IS really awesome of you to have researched this for us! Many, many thanks to you!
Kudos!

I'm not sure American Airlines will not be strict about weights. Compared to major US airlines I find them to be about the most strict. They even have more stringent weight requirements than other carriers to the VI. They allow a checked bag of 70#s and another of 50#s, while US Air allows two of 70#s. AA also is more restrictive on carry-ons.
We will definitely check into the weight restrictions.
Thanks for the input!!!

James,
Oops, sorry, should have been a little more clear about what I meant. Typically on super small planes that carriers like Cape Air operate (that are like say 8 passengers). The passengers typically have to give the pilot their body weight when they are boarding as well as each bag being idividually weighed, where a larger 70 passenger plane like American operates out of PR does average bag weights and average passenger weights for weight and balance and center of gravity.
So the point being, and I'm not trying to be crass here, the smaller carriers have a different type of accountability with things like that so that you don't have another Aalyiha incident like what happened in the Bahamas. Those planes are more weight sensitive and go off of specific weights rather than estimated weights...Make sense? Thats what I meant when I said that they probably had a stricter baggage policy...
