While I was at VI Cargo yesterday about 15 cop cars swooped in and appeared to be raiding the scrap metal business next door.
Copper buyers??

I despise those guys - not only do they seem to be a magnet for every piece of stolen jewelry for miles around, but they prey on people...banking on them to not know the value of their pieces. I recently went to an event held by one bunch and they offered me $125 for the bracelet I was wearing - after they had examined it...after i had stopped laughing, I asked their 'appraiser' what he thought he was looking at...????/
To cut a long story short - it was a silver watchchain hallmarked etc...made in Edinburgh in the early 1700's by a master silversmith - every link hallmarked and with a silver sixpence and a hallmarked safety bar and clasp...worth about $1000 conservative estimate. What if I hadn't known what I had.?

Sallyf, you are correct but keep in mind the $1000 value is for the workmanship and metal. They are only giving you the scrap price and that is reduced so they can make money as well
