Monogram is correct about in store sales you cant get online. Especially with groceries . But with online you can go to retail me not and get coupon codes. I find jc penne . Drugstore.com petco and a few others to be comparable to stateside prices.

After the mandatory deductions (taxes, GERS, insurance, union dues, etc.), TOGETHER we bring home around $1800 a pay period...and we are not at the bottom of the pay scale rung because we've been teaching quite awhile.

This has been the most helpful comment out of all!

Thank you.

Here's the pay scale from the VI DOE, if it's indeed current:

Hi all, I'm new to the board as I have been thinking about applying for a teaching job in the public schools.

I'm reading about many things but was wondering, before I spend the time and money sending in the required paperwork, if someone can tell me what the average pay is for an experienced certified teacher is? I also have my masters degree in education.

Thanks

If your current salary is $3000/month, you will be in trouble here as a teacher. My husband and I are both teachers in the public school system (which generally pays better than private schools). After the mandatory deductions (taxes, GERS, insurance, union dues, etc.), TOGETHER we bring home around $1800 a pay period...and we are not at the bottom of the pay scale rung because we've been teaching quite awhile.

I don't want to deter you from the move, but if finances are a concern, I'm sharing the reality with you.

Good luck!

What does a pay period consist of? Week, bi-week or month?
