I only meant a light jab if nothing else at your paragraph of political ideologies (I mean,, you DID say feminism... which is just a set up right there... haha.. I'm sure you meant egalitarianism, not feminism......)

There's a whole lotta assumption going on here...because I read HuffPo? ....and I'm wondering - when something big happens, where do YOU go for your who-what-when-where? Notice I didn't say "why"? Because ALL MSM - Fox, Huff, CNN, etc - will have their own "why" - THAT's what I avoid. Like any rational person, I will research the major factors separately and draw my OWN conclusions as to the "why" rather than let someone else TELL me their version of the "why".
I like how some of you are assuming that I would take the opinion of one news source and accept that as gospel.
Don't do that. Don't assume. It's ignorant and it's insulting. Think it through and realize that an opinion different from your own doesn't make me a sheeple. You're smart enough to have left the mainland and carve out a life for yourself on a weird little island. Take your smarts one step further and think through your judgement and understand that you know NOTHING about me except that which I choose to share. You don't know why I have come to hold certain opinions, or what life has shown me that makes me cling to certain ideologies. You haven't walked my path, nor I, yours. Stop doing this.
Well, hold on there a minute.
First, you seemed to imply that MSM was guided by ratings and Huff was not. Nothing could be further than the truth. Web sites are cutthroat about their rankings, traffic and clicks, for the same reason TV and radio are about their ratings. The more attention, the more advertising dollars.
Second, you indicated that you go to Huff for facts. Well, believe it or not, Fox news has also been known to present facts. But Huff and Fox only present the facts they want to. Sometimes, Huff will not cover a story that's all over Fox, and vice versa. Sometimes they'll only present part of the story, deeming the other part not enough of an audience draw. They ALL do it. (Even (gasp!) some of the so-called un-beholden Youtube "researchers" LF has presented in the past).
You also, the way you wrote your post, seemed to imply that Huff has no spin. While I now see what you mean, it's still not valid. The headline wording, whom they choose to interview, and what parts of quotes they pick to publish also contribute to bias and spin. And Huff is right up there with other familiar media on that practice.
So, if we made assumptions, please realize they were based on your own words. My comment was also made lightly.

Of COURSE Huff is as much spin as every one else. What I was trying to saywas that when there is a bombing or a shooting or something else big going on, Huff is simply where I go to find out what happened, where did it happen, when did it happen. The WHY DID IT HAPPEN is the spin part that I try to ignore because theories and opinions vary so much. That's what I was trying to get across.
you guys - I'm not usually this prickly and I apologize. I CAN take a jab - and I try not to wear my stuff on my sleeve. My heart is hurting on a few levels today and I lashed out on the very board where I'm trying to make a few friends who share a common love of the USVIs.

Sorry to bring up the channel I watch, obviously i will read from afar, as these posts get hijacked for everyone's personal agenda. No wonder why about 10 - 15 regulars comment because unless your new and didn't read the drop down menus, why bother talk about advertising or whatever the posters subject is. I realize every channel has it's own slant, i don't just watch Fox, but it's my choice and I will choose to do that. Whatruw8ing4 got it right in his posts, thanks. Ok , peace out, just will watch from the side while every thread changes to an extreme other topic by those wishing to push their agenda.

Ohhh I'm DEEPLY familiar with 3rd wave "Feminism" (though lets be honest, it's just thinly veiled misandry)
I think one of the worst things one could do in modern days is identify as a feminist.
But that's just me, I'm not a liberal or a conservative (though I have traits of both).

Beats me why people have the need to categorize themselves and label themselves anyway. If you've come to a point in life where you feel you've fit into a solid niche then what's the joy in living when what you're doing is complacently shutting yourself out of exploration, growth and change.

This is my personal favorite VI commercial.
Before I'm accused of highjacking, let me clarify that it is specifically, a Cruzan Rum add. I've never seen it anywhere other than youtube, and, if you analyze the background, you'll notice it's definitely not even produced on STX. However, I love the humor, the bad acting, and the turtle which is also (I believe) not native to the USVI.

If something big is happening in the world, I read up on HuffPo. News channels are all ratings whores and no one is going to change my opinions at this late date. I want the facts without all the spin. I'm an extreme left, pro-choice, anti-gun, anti-trump, pro-immigration, feminist, atheist, socialist peacenik who is in the very enviable and fortunate position of also being white, middle-aged, affluent, well-educated and well-traveled - I'm the demographic that the GOP are terrified of and I VOTE.
Wow! With all those positive traits and qualifications, its sad that you only have one vote.
Maybe Hillary will change that. 😀
