Based on the website Innovative is announcing something huge. I'm taking a guess at it

50Mbps internet speeds to residents.

Great! As soon as they do it for $50 a month I'll sign up.

I think this page spoils the big reveal:

http://innovativevi.net/more-about-us/technology

(up to 24Mbps residential)

Turns out my current 12Mbps service is getting this speed consistently:

I will certainly be happy with that. That would likely mean higher prices. Paying about $50/month with a contract for 50Mbps with crappy Comcast. Hope offerings on island will be better/comparable.

We pay the same for 2 Mbps.

My 6 Mbps plan that is part of their fabulous cable bundle has only tested at 6 Mbps 2 times since January. 12 Mbps is $79 here so doing some math here.... 50 Mbps should cost your firstborn plus a kidney

We'll have to see if BBVI can keep up. I'm paying for the "plus" speeds, but I've been getting less than 5 mbps during the night.

Bbvi could offer 1/4 of the speed and I would still go with them due to reliability, competence, ACTUALLY SHOWING UP TO INSTALLATION APPOINTMENTS, their phone system not disconnecting me incessantly etc etc etc

Thanks Don, but BBVI is working on upgrades to provide 25Mbps for our Plus customers, and upgrade all other customers as well....so you can love us for speed and service.

Any esitmates on when that might be?
I also tend to receive less than advertised during the evening most nights on the plus plan

I thought you were bumping up the lower tier speeds a year ago. What happened?

We are testing the final 2 contenders for our next-gen equipment. Hope to have a decision by the end of the month, then we need to install equipment at every tower, then go to our Plus and Biz customers to upgrade their equipment. Not a trivial exercise.

Our upgrade effort last year did not prove to be as large an improvement that was needed to meet our customers ever increasing demands. So we searched again and found a product that should meet demands for the next 5 years. Thank you for your patience. It will be worth the wait.

Is there any idea on when (if ever) VINGN is going to deliver on their promise of "next-gen" speeds in the Virgin Islands?

The speeds are available to the ISP's. The ISP's have not made the higher speeds available to the public at a reasonable price.
