satelite radio
hey
i was wondering if any one has satelite radio here and what are the costs, i did do a search and went back 9 pages and could not find anything.
thank you
My XM radio doesn't work here
I looked into it a while ago and both systems stated that they wouldn't work in the VI.
I've found a good compromise through streaming radio on the computer, and over the data phone. Pandora has a nice Iphone app which works wonderfully, plus there are a number of station-specific apps which allow you to stream and listen in real time or on demand. NPR has a full-featured app but it's too complicated to mess with in the car, unfortunately. But there is a PBS app that will connect you with the station of your choice whenever you want. All these apps are free, by the way. If you don't have or want an iphone, any semi-smart phone and a data plan will give you most of these features.
If you listen in your car a lot you can get an adaptor for an old-school car stereo, or newer car stereos may have either an aux input jack or bluetooth connectivity.
Good luck, hope this helps.
checked into it also and not here ......yet. i guess you would have to drive around with a big satellite dish on your car to maybe pick up signal.
now that is a great idea dixie :@)
we have one at work - I think it's sirius?
we have sirus at home.
hey speedy we can start the business. lol
You can get certain channels of Sirius/XM (they merged) on Dish Network so if you have your Dish network Satellite receiver plugged into your stereo you are good to go. Not good for a car obviously.

Dishes on cars!?!? 😮 LOL
Reminds me of the story about a couple getting married on the beach only to find out it was the day of the World Series. Boston vs Yankees. This was a huge deal to them since the wedding and reception were on the beach and they were freakin out because all there friends were heading to the bar or TV set after the nuptuals. Basically killing the after party. They hired me to mount a dish on top of my van and with a generator have the game on, on the beach. It was a hoot!!
Sirius on Dishnetwork is only music channels. You don't get any of the talk shows. It's included in the America's Top 200 Pac and reception is from Satellite 119.
I've heard of people mounting the radio antenna to the lnb bracket of a dish and picking it up by pointing to that satellite but I didn't have any luck fooloing with it one afternoon and gave up.
The satellites used by Sirius/XM are positioned to service mainland USA. Off air reception (from a home or car radio) in the VI is virtually impossible.
Sirius (not XM) works here on STJ. Within the last 6 months, the signal was bumped up to service PR. I have been told they have repeaters in PR for in car systems.

Funny I should find this topic... We moved here last month from Ohio and had Sirius there in both vehicles for a couple of years. So, when we knew that we were moving in January, we decided not to re-up our subscription at the end of December because, as rks stated above, their website clearly states that it won't work in the VI.
That having been said, my husband decided for giggles to plug his in last week and, lo and behold... it works! We can't figure out why, especially since we're not paying for it, but it does work in the higher areas on island. Valleys and heavily treed areas not so much.
Good luck!

Its impossible to have a World Series between the Yanks and the Sox, they are in the same division
Then it was Red Sox vs ........??
Could've been ALCS from a few years ago! MIght as well have been the World Series.
