Sargassum still affecting the stx beaches?
My wife and I are coming down in 2 weeks for our first of many PMV's. 🙂 I know that Sargussum was an issue about 5-6 weeks ago, is it still? We are staying at a condo (Colony Cove) and are hoping that this is no longer an issue. Thanks.
It comes and goes. The last couple of storms washed some of it away, and more came in within the past day or two. This is around Coakley Bay (east end, north side of STX). I can't speak for Colony Cove.
Went to the divi for breakfast yesterday and it was there but not like it had been. The hotel is going to try something new on getting rid of it. They are doing what they can

I heard they were going to try floats like the ones they use for oil spills, to keep it away from the beach, but DPNR told them they were one permit short. So they are waiting for that. **

You had to wade through it to get on the beach at HaPenny about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if it's cleared out yet.
Don't know about Colony Cove, but there still are (so far) plenty of clear beaches to visit.
That probably was the method I heard about
West end has none. I live on the west no west end beach has it
The wind and the current carry it to the West so the West facing beaches stay clean, the weed just keeps going to Puerto Rico and Mexico. Mermaid Beach faces Westward and seems to stay clear as well.
