Samsung or Iphone

Looking for some advice, finally thinking of taking the plunge and getting a smart phone - which do you prefer Samsung or Iphone. I'd be interested to hear what most people prefer and why. Also which provider gives the best monthly plan. AT&T? Virgin? another? I'm sure someone else here has done the research already.

I'm confused because some plans seem to say "unlimited data" but then it also says you are limited to 3.5gb/month with purchase of mobile hotspot plan? The hotspot plan sounds like a good idea but I don't know about being limited to 3.5gb/month. also, what part is "unlimited data"?

Thanks in advance,

I have an htc inspire and I'm ready for an upgrade. My husband has an iPhone and seems to get better service. And my battery life stinks.

Hello honey. Virgin mobile. No contract! $55.00 month for unlimited everything! Data, talk and text. You have a choice of phones. I use the HTC evo and like it.
I think an iPhone is an available option, you will pay full price for phone but will make up for it with rates and no contract. Best deal out there. I was a customer of T-Mobile for 12 years and dropped them to go with virgin mobile. I couldn't deal with the contract nonsense anymore.

Thanks for the info. Yes, Virgin Mobile is here, and I do like the idea of no contract as well. good advice sheiba, I was kind of wondering about the hot spot for running a laptop, I guess that would be too much.

thanks for the warning.

virgin moblie has the same coverage area as sprint. I pay only $35 per month. Buy your phone directly through apple (and get the extended insurance). Be sure to get a protective case (ottor box) and screen protector. Because of the big glass face, the I phones aren't as durrable as a typical cell phone. Another drag about the Iphone is that it's a target for thieves. My daughter's college sent out a warring las month advising students not to walk and talk. Apperntly, thieves on bicycles came up fast behind the "talker" and ripped the phones directly from thier hands. Other than that, great phone, great service, great features.

Wow! Thanks for the Virgin Mobile info. My ATT contract is done in two weeks, I plan to make the switch! I wonder...can I transfer my ATT number to Virgin Mobile?

No. Can not transfer a number. That's an issue. I had to get a new number after 12 years. Adjusted quickly to it. Though. You can purchase a virgin mobile phone via internet at virginmobileusa.com. I purchased mine at Target while in the states over the summer. Sprint coverage . I'm in st Croix and coverage has been great.

I would never own anything from Apple and love my HTC One X.

Anything Apple can do, someone else can do better and cheaper.

I had an IPhone for 2 years and when my contract was up, I told AT&T to send it where the sun doesn't shine. Got my Samsung Galaxy 3 from AT&T and love, love, love it! Easy to use, much bigger screen so no eye-strain and have never had a problem with apps downloading like I did with IPhone!!!

Yes, the Samsung Galaxy 3's screen does look very nice, I haven't ever used one though. I understand there is no HDMI outlet is that correct? but you can buy an adaptor? has anyone used one of these adaptors, and if so - does it work well? I'm usually wary of these adaptor type things. Is there any smart phone that does have HDMI?

The Virgin mobile does seem like a good deal, but I don't like the idea of no sim card, and not being able to change your phone number over. Just wish AT&T was more competitive on the price.

Anyone using the AT&T hotspot?

Anyone using Virgin Mobile who lives in the Solitude area? Att has no signal, I'm wondering if VM does. Thanks!

I ditched all apple products. I LOVE my Samsung Galaxy 3S! The only thing I miss from the iPhone is the predictive text - it was better than on the Samsung but someone just told me about an app that works great for it (haven't tried it yet).

The Swiftkey 3 app is absolutely the best predictive text app ever.

Its like it knows what you're thinking!

Just say NO to Apple products.

I have the HTC Inspire, a few years old, time for a new one! Is the EVO the next step up? The text screen looks the same. What's the difference between the OneX & the EVO?

I am headed to Virgin Mobile, THANK YOU all for putting the info out there!

ATT discounted my bill for the past 3 months, and it will cost me $105 to cancel contract. Add up the monthly cost of ATT vs VM, and take the discount, I will actually save money to cancel.

Still haven't heard if VM has signal in Solitude...anyone??

Christiansted, yes for coverage virgin (sprint). Not sure about solitude. I know I don't get service when in cane bay area and cramers park area.
That is probably important to know poodle before canceling at&t.

I contacted Virgin Mobil. You CAN transfer your number however you MUST buy the phone directly from Virgin Mobil. I have ATT and an Iphone 4. I am going to sell my iphone and buy one from them. I will be saving at least $50/month. Phone will pay for itself in 7 mos.
