Looks like they righted and removed the sail boat that had run aground in the mouth of Salt River.

Not there this morning as far as I can see from my Gallery.

Heard the events as they unfolded on marine radio last Sunday.
The weather was nasty. Glad the crew got out all right. Heard the boat was sideways on the reef.

Personally I found the channel markings quite confusing at Christieansted. Salt river is at my draft limit so I am staying away.

I saw it yesterday while at a clients house. I'm not a captain but always on boats and that looks like a totally sketchy entrance. No buoys? I thought that was odd.

I am sure there will be some hefty fines involved too.

I won't go into Salt River on a good day. Scary entrance, poorly marked and always seems rough. Glad the crew is safe.

Geeze, you should've tried sailing into Anagada back in the day when there were sticks for entrance markers. Ditto for coming into many south and central American anchorages. They use the same stick system. No buoys.

We still use the sticks in a few places on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. I think the crabbers move them sometimes for sport.;)

Sticks would be an improvement at Salt River.

That's funny!
Can't say I've ever taken a boat into Salt River.
Is that used as a hurricane hole?

Sailed numerous times in and out of Csted.
Once, on our way back to STT, we came across a 26 ft. boat that had capsized right outside the channel entrance. We called USCG and picked up people clinging to the hull and brought them back into port. We decided that called for rum and cokes afterwards so left, again, for home the next day.

Plenty of boats in Salt River Bay and Salt River Marina. I've boated in/out many times with Cap'n Sparky and Anchor Dive, those were the days. He made it look easy at least.
