Hi Donkeysusvi,

LOL :)!

I won't tell you that for sure. I am recovering from pneumonia and this dust is really irritating my lungs too. I am staying indoors with the AC running as much as I can, but I would also be interested in hearing any suggestions.

Best,
🙂 Mell

Breathing masks would be a good idea - so says el medico hubbie - if you have a compromised respiratory system. In plain English, I guess he means asthma, bronchitis, emphysema etc.
It is nasty stuff to deal with as it is sharp edged gritty particles that can scratch the tissues in yr eyes etc.
Stay indoors as much as you can, avoid stirring the sedimet up without a breathing mask etc etc.
Please don't make me pin a kiss on the donkey's tail.

I believe you.... It's just hard to imageine that the dust would come all the way from Africa. Yes I know it does, but before I ever went there and saw it, I don't tink I would have.

Hi Jane,

Thanks for consulting your hubby on this and passing the information along :). Unfortunately vanity prevents me from walking around looking like Michael Jackson, so I guess I will just be bearing the discomfort and stocking up on cough drops and medicine. I thought I had fully recovered from my illness until this dust came along. I feel fine really, but I am just coughing a lot.

Hi Donkeysusvi,

This is only my second year of Saharan dust, but I seem to recall it lasting well into July, if not even a little longer. I hope I am mistaken about this.

Best,
🙂 Mell

Did you know that the dust actually helps protect us from hurricanes? Interesting reading on some new research, for those weather freaks out there (and I'm one of them 😉

Just out of curiousity, Is this really Sahara dust (which I know is completely possible) or is it ash and small particulates from the volcano on Montserrat?

In this case, it is the Sahara dust, however we do experience ash from Montserrat from time to time as well.

It wasn't as grey today as it was yesterday but I think it's going to keep up through the weekend. I have asthma but so far, so good.

Medically speaking, Claritin or Benadryl should help with the runny nose, sneezy symptoms.
Transfer Factor Plus by 4LIfe Research has been shown in studies to boost your immune system by 437% and alsoacts as an immune modulator. Folks with asthma and other reactive airway diseases, at least in anecdotal accounts and my personal experience, often find significantly reduced symptoms.

The organization that distributes the Transfer Factor product is a Multi Level Marketing business. The get rich join us recruit others make money type of deal.

If you are going to take a "supplement" web advertized product then please take it to your usual health care provider who knows you and your medical history, prescription drug use etc. If you have a "breathing condition" then let your Lung Dude (that is official medical speak there !!!) assess it for you.

Nice caveat on the personal and anecdotal evidence - this usually means that there are no clinical studies or FDA approval etc. Naughty Mr Morse. You really shouldn't put your PA creds up to legitimize a questionable product.

And be SURE to have the pharmacist run it through the list of medications and supplements that can't be mixed...whatever this product is may not even be listed in the Drug Interactions program the pharmacists use - take a printout on it. Sometimes even physicians don't have all the info on the herbals and even the regular meds that have interactions....be informed before you start chugging something down. There are even foods that interact with meds - for example, you shouldn't eat grapefruit if you are taking one of most of the statin drugs (Mevacor, Lipitor, etc.) - the body gets busy trying to process the grapefruit stuff and the drug builds up in your liver.

Jane, we should open our own practice. I'll even buy the stethascopes.

Transfer Factors have been studied since 1949. There have been over 3000 double blind studies done on it them. The "anecdotal evidence" is in Addition to the studies. Transfer Factor is listed in the PDR for nutritional supplements. Unlike other similar products, there is no overdose or adverse reaction information on this supplement (unlike Tylenol or Aspirin and many other listed supplements.) There are targeted Transfer Factor products (for diabetes, heart and vessels that DO have adverse reactions when taken with certain other medications. Absoluteluy you should do the research on this product before taking it. (I did.) You should also absolutely discuss with you physician the taking of this or any other supplement. As a distributor for this product, I may be (probably am) biased, but the more I study about it the more impressed I become. I really think it is worth looking into. If you want more information from me, you can PM me. Other distributors on St.X that I am aware of are Dr. Gibbs and Dr. Campbell. They are in separate MLM lines and I do not benefit from any business they do.

G'day

Roger

If this is the same thing someone tried to sell me, saying it would be good for my lungs, it is really just massive amounts of a bunch of vitamins. You would be better off eating several servings of fruits and veggies a day and maybe taking one multi. (Available at the grocery store for probably aboyt 10 bucks a bottle)

I did have one guy tell me, "You can make ten thousand dollars a month!! with 4life!!"

Please be very aware of the risks of dealing with MLMs before you buy anything or sign anything!
