RV's/ live in travel trailers
Hi Everybody,
My family and I are looking to move to STX soon. We were tossing around the idea of bringing over a travel trailer and our mini van. I haven't found anything that says where we can or can't do this. I was wondering if any of y'all could help me. I'm wondering if there are any places to park the trailer at. The reason we wanted to do this was because of the high prices of rent, plus this way we would always have a place to live. And the option (possibly) of packin up and goin to a different location if just for a weekend.
If this isn't do-able please tell me. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Also, I love this message board! Very informative.
Take care and thanks!

Do yourself a big favor. Leave the trailer in the states. Pulling on our roads will be difficult and the first hurricane you will have to change your address from STX to PR. Just my opinion.

Very few property owners will want an RV on site -- but it only takes one right.
You will want to consider --- Water -- Sewage __ electric.
RV's and house/travel trailers in the Caribbean are not a good idea - roads are much to narrow and twisty, RV's/House/travel trailers won't stand up to the elements - sun's UV rays, salt air and sea spray will deteriorate the exteriors very quickly (look at all the rusted out cars around the island). They won't stand up to hurricane force winds which can happen often. It's not a good idea at all.
If you like the nomadic lifestyle the equivalent of living in an RV in the Caribbean is living on a boat. You'd be much better off doing that instead.
I agree with everyone about not bringing a trailer, bad bad idea for here. Lots of Mini Vans on island, don't really understand how you could live in one. Afriend is right about the boat if you want the camping livestyle in the Caribbean. But just know the best day in a boat owner's life is the day he buys it and the day he sells it. Meaning boats are usually going to be as much or more expensive then rent. I, personally would advise you to rent and enjoy the Caribbean, I don't know what your budget is, but rents are lower then they have been in a very long time.
Hi, BMay!
Maybe you can make your move first and then size up the situation before shipping the RV. My guess is you find all the prior posts to be right on the mark. The roads are decent, compared to some places I've lived around the world (Asia, Africa), but not like the states.
My advice: Come and see for yourself. Don't give up on the idea of renting while you discover the island.
Maybe you should consider Florida, The islands are very expensive to live on and if the rent is to expensive for you, the utilities, water, and food will knock your socks off.

That really mad me laugh because I actually thought about that exact thing with our camper. I can just imagine it floating away during a hurricane.
Thanks everybody for the advice!! I really appreciate it.
