Rust Op Twist? Possible small condos by Cane Bay?
What do you STX residents know about Rust Op Twist? I mean, I know it was a plantation, there are ruins there, but what is that relatively modern big building that is most visible from the road - some kind of apartments? I see lots there listed for sale online, and one rental cottage, but have never seen any houses for sale there. Are there many houses or cottages back in there? When we were in STX in June, we started to drive in to look around but a couple of big dogs started chasing the car and my husband thought we should leave because it was private property.
My second question - does anyone know about a place almost next to the Waves at Cane Bay that would be about finished now if the work continued like it was in June. It looked to be maybe 6 or 8 units being renovated out of what might have been just a private house or very small hotel. We heard that someone was working on it to turn it into condos, but I don't remember if it had a real estate sign out front or not. This place was just east of the Waves. There is a small cottage right next door to the Waves, then I think this place was next.
Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me about either of these places.
P.S. I was in "our" ocean this morning here in Jacksonville, and it made me wish even more that I was in STX. Can't see your feet when you are only in up to your knees! Oh well, I shouldn't complain. At least I live near the ocean . . .
What used to be Cane Bay Reef Club (Bogies) is in fact being turned into Condos. Nice things being done there.
Got chased by the same dogs! =) They gave up halfway up the hill. I was told the property is private but they allow visitors.
There are lots of properties and houses in Rust-Op-Twist. There was a house or two on the market in the past year but they must have sold as I don't see any listed now. Still land for sale up that way. If interested in anything I suggest you go up with a realtor to show you around. Call Barbara @ RR Realty 690-9100. (www.rrrealtyvi.com)
Thank you guys - I just love this forum!
Maybe next time I will take some dog biscuits to keep those sentries busy while we look around!
If you are talking about the dogs on the old plantation itself and you were trying to get to the mill. Just drive on in. They don't mind sharing the view and the dogs shouldn't bother you. As far as houses and cottages. A few on this property but usually rented it seems.
