Senor Frogs has been in the Bambooz spot for over a month or so. I hear they should have their signage up soon. They seem to be waiting until their signs and decor changes are completed before making a big announcement.

Hmm...When we walked by the other night, things were pretty sedate in there. No people standing on the bar singing, no one getting shots poured down their throats. Maybe it's a different world out east.:D

P.S. What about the emoticons, Islander??

I believe the radio talk show host also owns a restaurant; it's a shame how rumors spread

She didn't make the announcement, her in studio guest did! Hope the rumor was false but it is easy to believe in these times.

Doesn't appear to be a rumor, as it was posted today on Salud's own Facebook page:

Salud Bistro
Re-opening soon!!! Pushing for Thursday but definitely Friday. If Thursday I will post as soon as possible. New menu with the your favorites still on it. Thank you for your support!!!

Very glad to hear it!

Bernie

See? Thats how rumors start. In rumor threads. Haha glad salude is reopening. I talked to someone in the know and it wasn't going to reopen even a few days ago.

Saw the sign covering coco blue's sign this morning, very sad about that. We LOVED Coco Blue + always heard Havana wasn't as good but never tried it.
We tried Cravin' Crabs this weekend... I'll go back for the crab bisque let alone the other goods. Did you all know that it's open for lunch as "Asian Restaurant" when boats are in. I always just thought the Asian Restaurant sign was old + nobody bothered to take it down.

So Red Hook Senor Frogs would be a second location or are they moving?
As for Marina Market, that would be a bummer. They really need a good deli counter/sandwich shop out there (NOT SUBWAY) for beach/boating crowd. I'm guessing that's what MM was? I never went in before they closed.

Where is Cravin' Crabs and Senor Frogs located?
Don't get to east end much these days but for something worthwhile, there's always the exception..

Cravin' Crabs is in Mandela Circle in the old DQ building. Senor Frogs on the end of the WICO dock. You can miss it, it's all red. They cater to cruisers. Previously it was Paradise Gate.

I was told by Thia Tyler that she has closed The Alley Galley in Christiansted. Apparently WAPA tried to jack her electricity bill from approximately $400 a month to $2800 a month. WAPA claimed they were reading her digital meter for her modest 700 sf space wrong from the beginning. Upon being told that $2800 a month was the new normal, she let her employees go and shut it down the next day.

Thanks WAPA pigs...another St. Croix business bits the dust.

Alley Galley was a great addition to downtown Christiansted. A place where visitors and locals could shop for basics. Exactly the type of business that keeps a downtown alive. I thought it would thrive and was suprized that it closed. Now we know why.

This is very sad for Christiansted and unfortunately a sign of the times.

i pay 500 a month at my house... 400 a month for a business is unreal given the current wapa rape-scenario.

Maybe the meter was busted and they replaced it. Maybe they were doing a guesstimate and then a real reading. I rather doubt anyone's bill could go from $400 to $2,800. There is more to that story.

I'm not so sure. I have an 8,000 sf space with plenty of electricity gobbling equipment and fully air conditioned. I'm paying on average about $2400 a month for WAPA. $2800 for a 700 sf space with an ice cream machine, a meat slicer and a few refrigerators seems way out of wack to me.

Perhaps WAPA was back-dating the error - making her pay for all the months when she was billed improperly? I've heard of them doing that. Either way it's really dumb as they should KNOW that will force a business to close their doors. WAPA needs to solve this problem, we are losing too many businesses. SMH.

THERE ARE ONLY SUPPOSED TO NOW GO BACK 3 MONTHS AND NOT THE YEARS THEY WERE ALLOWED TO GO BACK TO COLLECT FOR ERRORS OR GUESSTIMATING BILLS.
HUBBY TOLD ME IT WAS CLOSED AND I ASKED HIM IF THEY WERE CLOSED FOR A MONTH OR SOMETHING AND HE SAID CLOSED CLOSED.
HE ALSO SAID THERE WERE ONLY TWO PLACES OPEN FOR BREAKFAST DURING THE WEEK.

Okay. Sign on former Coco Blue says "Revelry" with a wine glass in the logo. I don't get the concept. Drink wine and get loud??

Also (and maybe I'm slow) noticed that Home Again is gone.

Yes, I know. And the lady who bought it seemed very pleased. Just saw that it is not there anymore. Don't know if the new lady moved or what. (Not willing to start rumors!)

To STTResident and the other person on trip advisor discussing this thread (LOL)...Coco Blue was sold- the new restaurant is owned by someone else. P.S. I think you get more up to date info here than TA...

Also, I saw the sign on the Home Again store that she has moved to the East End Galleria- across from the former Marina Market.

Bamboozled still has the old sign up. At least it did when I was by the other day...

Glad to hear Home Again is still in business with new owner.
Will check it out next time I'm in Red Hook.
So many businesses/owners don't make it. Kudos to those that can and do.

toninski: I swear, the reason I started this thread was I had heard a "rumor" and I wanted to see if someone had some knowledge. I did not want to START rumors, but to put an end to them.
