Sounds like Bamboozled got just as lucky selling the lease to a chain as they did building it with the boundary setbacks. I rarely get to the far East end but am always amazed at the rapid turnover in the businesses when I do -- and am lucky enough to find a legal parking spot.

Heard rumor today that a country western bar is opening in the Marina Market location. It's being gutted now.

I heard Mosler bought out the alley where Hotheads and other places are located and raised the rents ... REALLY? If this is true, shame on Mosler!

taco bell is the same company as kfc and bk I believe, so I believe it'll happen.

They had a Taco bell here in STT quite awhile back but it didn't last long.

Taco Bell is owned by Yum! brands, yes, as is Pizza Hut, and they did spin off from PepsiCo. However most individual locations are franchises, so it is up to a franchisee to decide if he/she wants to buy a franchise for the VI and build one here.

I've heard the rumor about Taco Bell coming to Frederiksted for three years now, and no sign of anything happening. I think it's more a wish than a reality. The logistics for a franchisee of a Taco Bell are more challenging than a McDonald's of keeping fresh ingredients and a regular supply chain. But that's a guess on may part. It may just be someone willing to put up the money for one and trust it will be a moneymaker.

East Ender, my comment above wasn't directed at you. I think it's cool to discuss new businesses that may be opening (even Taco Bell). But when people start gossiping and spreading rumors about businesses closing (like Brew Pub) that's not cool, because they lose business as a result. Rumors can put a business out of business in the VI. I prefer to stay positive and be surprised if a place closes.

I agree with all of that. Youre right about the pizza hut and pepsi things, but dont they own bk and kfc as well? I know in the states a lot of the kfcs and tbs are in the same place.

Yes they do own BK and KFC as well - even though those are stand-alone brands, they are all under the Yum! header. Years ago I worked for the former Sr. brand VP for TriCon, which is what held Pepsi, KFC, and Taco Bell, before they rearranged things.

There are Corporate stores that you find in the states and often those are the "combo" stores (e.g. Taco Bell and KFC or BK in the same building) vs. the franchises. But most are still stand-alone franchises, about 80%, owned by individual franchisees or holding companies. Corporate stores tend to be in more high-volume areas so I don't know that they would consider the VI, but hey, we can always hope, right? I have to admit the occasional Taco Bell Jones myself....(shhhh!)

Btw the McDonalds and KFCs on St. Croix are not locally owned, and if I remember right neither is the Pizza Hut or Domino's. IHOP is locally owned, not sure about the Subways, but those are usually local joints.

I have been hearing the Taco Bell rumor for over 11 years now.

Taco bell got approved a month ago and it'll be here (west is best) in 2014.
