It seems the stx highway that runs from Fredericksted, by the airport and Sunny Isle, to christiansted has about 10 names. Can this be true?

I only know the highway by two names: Route 66, and Melvin H. Evans Highway. It goes from Frederiksted to Sunny Isle. From Sunny Isle to Christiansted, there is no divided highway, and it's one lane in each direction, with lower speed limits than the highway. Yes it has several names, but it's not the highway.

Google Maps lists a lot of other names along Route 66 that nobody uses, or the names are used for other roads entirely.

Visitors ask directions and mention route numbers and for the most part I don't know them, I do know I live off 68, east end road and I know Melvin Evans highway, queen Mary, centerline, nothshore road. After coming here for 35 years and living here 6 I always used the landmarks to find my way and give directions. Maybe I'll pay more notice to the few road signs that are visible. STX is just 7 x 28 miles and 85 square miles to it becomes easy to find your way quickly.

I believe it is Highway 66, not Route 66.
70 is the same as Queen Mary or Centerline
66 only goes to Sunny Isle, from Sunny Isle to C-sted it becomes or blends with 70.

I like to call it I-95, but if you are not from the east coast of the mainland then it would not make much sense, not that it does anyway...

I was looking at that just this past week and it made absolutely no sense to me. Hopefully it all will be straightened by the end of year since they're starting to implement GIS and street addressing.

Or it may end up being more confusing....:S

Germany has the autobahn, we have the rastabahn. No disrespect intended, just a funny name I heard used for the 'highway'. 😎
