Hello everyone we are new to this forum we intend to visit for a couple of months and are looking for some where to stay. my wife and I live in Wisconsin our thoughts are to come down from October to may to stay and live in Wisconsin the rest of the year. we think a 2bed condo would work well for us. what are the insurance cost like for homes and cars. any advice that you can give would be grate full we are both early 60's very active and may consider restoring a property are building materials readily available.

Look forward to your replies

Graham and Linda

My strong suggestion is you come down and rent for that first 6 months. Get an old car, get a feel for the island. Only after that should you consider buying or shipping down your stuff.

Car insurance is very inexpensive here whereas house/condo insurance is very expensive. Condos are very well priced right now in my opinion as the local economy is still in the dumper. I would definitely take the time to rent for a few months before committing. Island life isn't for everyone.
