Restaurant, On beach, Okay for kids... (STT)

I'm looking for a restaurant on the beach (STT) with a very relaxed atmosphere... like the grass hut, wood kinda feel. I'm sure there are several, but I am coming with my 3 children. The restaurant itself need not be "kid-friendly" per se, but I don't want to take them anywhere where they're not welcome.

My wife and I are both 32 and our kids are 0, 2, and 3. So, we're still into the bar thing, but need to bring the kids along, which makes the restaurant on the beach with a bar the best hybrid for the moment.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. We'll be down the east end between Secret Harbour and Red Hook

Thank YOU!

Cabana Joe's in Frenchman Bay on Morningstar Beach has good food, right on the beach, good drinks, etc. We took our kids there all the time. Call the Marriott to get times etc. Also, Blue Moon Cafe although honestly I have not been there. I have met everyone who works there and love the people.

Oh yeah, and silly me - I forgot to mention our hangout. We went to Iggies a LOT at Bolongo Bay. Right on the beach as well, people are great, drinks come in buckets and if Steve is bartending tell him Teresa from SeaBlaster sent you. I don't live on island or work with SeaBlaster anymore, but we are all still great friends and they had better remember me! Definitely a place to go as well. Still kicking myself for actually forgetting Iggies. 🙂

There is also a restaurant and beach bar at the Island Beachcomber Hotel on Lindbergh Bay beach -- a two minute drive from the airport.

The setting is casual and pleasant and the beach is very pretty. On Sunday evenings they have a beach BBQ, which is also a lot of fun.

Have a wonderful vacation!!!

Best,
🙂 Mell

Thanks so much to all. I am so excited. I've been trying to move (in my head) to STT or STJ since I was last there in 1993. Now, I finally got the (extended) family and my wife to agree on a vacation. Wish me Godspeed!
Thanks again :o)

Hull Bay Hideaway, Iggies Beach Bar at Bolongo, Marriott and Wyndem are all great.

Most places here are child friendly until dark. Hell some places aren't really kid friendly and I see kiddos there ie. Pourmans. I couldn't believe it one day I saw a baby playing on the pool table.

Fungi's which is on the beach at Pt. Pleasant. Lots of iguanas for the kids to watch. I've only had lunch there but they serve dinner too, I think.

What about Magens? They have pizza by the slice and a few other food items. It's a nice beach and there are many kids. I really like their pizza.

no doubt the best pizza on the island. Just tell them at the gate you are picking up pizza and they won't charge admission.

thanks for all the replies.. don't stop if there are more :o) One or more that have been suggested look great but are a bit too far for the 12 of us to get to. They're nonetheless great suggestions!

Not on the beach but on the water in Frenchtown is Hook, Line & Sinker. Very family friendly, food's not expensive & a good bar.

Hi simkiss,

Did you mean to say 12 people?

Hook Line and Sinker is great. Don't know when you're coming, but off season they are not always open. If you decide to go, suggest you call first. HL&S is not near the east end. How will you be getting around?

East end, kid friendly (acceptable) include: Secret Harbor/Blue Moon, The Elysian/Bonnie's By the Sea and Roberts (both open-air and on the beach), Latitude 18, really "salty", laid back, a drinking kind of place, but the kids are welcome, just go early. Latitude is right next to Vessup beach. In Red Hook, best bet is Molly Molones, in the marina, something for everyone and a very friendly bar. For lunch, Duffy's Love Shack. It's not on the water, actually in a parking lot, but it is a "tradition", but don't take the kids for dinner. Party central!

The east end is loaded with restaurants, from upscale to really casual. One suggestion. If you are 12, make a reservation, even for the most casual places.

Enjoy

Bonnies by the Sea - wow! Surprised no one mentioned it. Great place with tables on the sand and the kids could be playing on the sand at water's edge just a few feet from the table.

Fungi's is not a good choice in my opinion because there is no place for the kids to play while adults eat. Sure it's right on the water but where do the kids go? Unless it's changed since I was there???

BONNIES BY THE SEA - try it, you'll love it.

Island Paul:

Hello! How have you been?

As far as Fungi's goes....if the kids are old enough they can go to Pineapple Beach or take out a kayak from Point Pleasant (free to guests).

Paul: Bonnie's is closed. The folks at Robert's will be re-opening it, possibly with a brick pizza oven, by August 1. At least that is the word on the street.

I also vote for Fungi's, Hull Bay Hideaway (teach 'em the fine sport of horse shoes!) and Magens.

I agree.....Fungi's at Point Pleasant is a great secluded place and you can walk down the beach to the other big hotel for other options. While we were there 2 years ago spent every afternoon for cocktail hour as well as many meals. Small, uncrowded and nice place!
