It's an excellent restaurant and I'd suggest you call them directly with that question.

If you don't mind eating at the bar or in the small lounge area a no reservation visit would probably be OK on most nights, early or late.
Reservations are not 'required' but the dining room is often very booked up - you can order off the dining room menu at the bar but cannot order the bar menu in the dining room if that matters to you.

It's pretty good - haven't been since I move to STX 7 months ago. It did used to be better 2014 was great - musta had a different chef - last few times we went it wasn't good at all. They used to have a bacon salt crusted fillet that was to die for. Pizza is still ok but I'm a simple girl and for pizza I'm all about the one in red hook... By moes.... Forget the name. Super cheap, thin, vinegar based sauce. No where has as good as an Italian sub as pizza Amore thou. The bomb.

The pizza out at the Blue Water Terrace in Cotton Valley (STX) is pretty awesome.

Senior Pizza. And I agree with you. Heard a lot about Pizza Amore and 13's pizza. Senor is better. 13 is still pretty good food outside of pizza though

The pizza at Osteria Frasca is yummy. And the ITP Everything, too, although they are totally different.

Depends. Winter probably best to call and make a reservation if you want to eat in dining room. Personally I don't like eating at a bar.
I'll post the phone number if you need it.
To me 13 is too dark and a bit claustophobic.

I prefer Senor Pizza, too but no delivery out my way.
Always get one to go if I'm in Red Hook.
I think I heard Blue Orchid was doing pizza?

Thanks for the info and the help. I have had Pizza Amore pizza on my last trip and it was the worst that I have had. I tried the BBQ Pizza, to dry. The cheese and pep pizza had little to no flavor. I too don't like eating at a bar, so it's the lounge for me.

The Pizza oven at The Blue Orchid is called Pie in the Sky - closed Sun/Mon - [as is Thirteen] - they make a good variety of pizzas.

There is or was bar/restaurant If I remember that was located in a strip mall by the movie theater. My brother in law and his wife took my wife and I there back in 2011. They also had slot machines in the back of the bar/restaurant. Now they had some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. They had a buy one get one free night or something like that and it was on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I had a egg plant and artichoke pizza with blue cheese that was good, my tongue tried to beat my mouth up just to get another bite of it.

That was Kokopeli (sp?).
Unfortunately, the pizza there now is terrible.
Stopped by after movies not so long ago and the entire menu was different and the pizza was one of the worst I've had. Greasy, too.
I was expecting a nice thin crust, crispy, delicious pie but it was vastly different.
They're pizza used to be some of the best on island. Think they may have changed management/ownership.
Very disappointing. Won't eat there again.

This thread has turned into a Pizzafest - but I've never heard of anyone making a trip to Thirteen for pizza. As far as the restaurant being, "too dark and a bit claustrophobic" that's highly subjective. I've always found it to be very comfortable, like the subdued lighting and not at all claustrophobic.

Living near 13, I often run up the hill for pizza if I don't feel like cooking or get other take out from nearby restaurants. Since the op is the one that asked about pizza on his thread, it's only logical that "Pizzafest" follows.

As far as "too dark and a bit claustrophobic" goes, that's my opinion.
You're entirely welcome to yours as I am to mine.

Yes, some who live in the area do pop in for bar food/pizza.

The OP wasn't the person who brought up ;pizza.

And no call to let me know that I'm "entirely welcome" to my opinion. As I clearly said, that's subjective so no cause for taking it as a personal affront! as your tone would suggest.

Pizza is a once per month treat. It can be fine meal or total nutritional incinerator. Be careful what you consume on a daily basis. Balanced, home cooked diet is a key to long and healthy life. Followed by sudden death.
