Resort salons; employment
I am a licensed Esthetician, planning on moving to St. John in October. Does anyone the licensing laws of St. John?
Wow! Here is a 6 year old thread (via the search feature): https://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/read.php?4,5193,5193#msg-5193
The places listed- the Westin, Sugar Bay and the Ritz all have spas. There are other salons around that offer esthetician services. Check DLCA (Licensing and Consumer Affairs) re: licensing requirements.
Thankyou so much! Do you think its best to puruse the spas you listed once we're down there?
I think you are going to have to visit in person to get any kind of response. Once you get here, you will be able to figure out the lay of the land.
Estheticians need a license from Dept of Lic and Consumer Affairs....site is down ...so do it with phone and snail mail at the moment.
You are required to have 250 hrs....from your training school
Can't remember annual fee...around $130
Believe 3 references.....you'lll also need local references......If you have a current state lic,
They will issue a temp lic until you take the next available test(always on a Sunday....for the practical and Mon for the written).
you'll also need a "Health Card"
That you can get from the clinic in ST John (Myrah Keating) once you arrive.....(Lab fee on stool sample $17.35 and lic fee $30)
You also need a tax clearance letter....that you get on line file request with the VI Int Rev Bureau.......VIIRB....before the lic is issued
it's a lot, but Ms Jeffers at Licensing is helpful and can send you a sheet w the requirements
good luck.....want to work in STT??? we need you!!
Thank you so much for the help. I actually plan on trying to work in STJ, unless I find NO work then I will come to STT. I have the hours, and in the process of getting my state license, so it is still a work in progress. I will definitly have a health card and money, haha. Are you a spa owner? How do you know estheticians are needed?
