Good Day everyone,

I am a young South African (cursed with the green mamba passport) currently working online. I am reaching out to anyone that might have any information on the process of a residential permit:

- Can I work/earn my living whilst living on the islands under the residential permit (Not obtaining a work permit or green card)?
- Who else can I contact in order to get the process as the BVI Gov page is still down?

Thank you for your time
Kind regards
Chelsea Graham

Simple answer - NO, a Resident Permit DOES NOT give you the ability to work. Even if you work from home you must apply for and be granted a Work Permit to legally work in the BVI's.

Thank you for your reply and information.
Do you know how easy it is to get a residential and work permit? I have read that the upfront payment is $1000?

Also do you know who I could contact in order to start the process?

Thank you
Chelsea

Process is not easy or inexpensive. Best to contact a local “labor” attorney to assist you.

Contact local (BVI) Ministry of Immigration and/or Ministry of Labor for more info. May be difficult right now as BVI’s are still in recovery mode after Hurricanes Irma and Marie so approving and issuing Work Permits and Residency is not a high priority for government officials.
