Hello John,
Welcome to the board. You didn't state which island you were interested in, but I can answer in a general way.
For the most part we don't have neighborhoods that are categorized by more family oriented, more retirement, more singles etc. like I have found in some areas of the states that I have been to. So basically you can find favorable areas period... rather than favorable because there are other families with jr & high school age kids living there. Knowing which island you are interested in will help us give a little more specific info.
Your wife should take a look in the education section of this site, it lists all the schools - she can look at the private school websites and contact them. The public schools web site for employment is http://www.teachislands.vi/

We would be looking to settle in SST.My wife and I will be on Island 9/24-10/07/05.Hope to educate ourselves in many ways concerning life on SST.Our home during our PMV will be the eastern most part of the Island. We will have a car to canvas SST when there.Any ideas for a realestate agent to parade us around for a day scoping out places to call ours soon?Your right about favorable kid areas though ; one persons haven is anther persons nightmare.
ps. Wondering about availability of government jobs?
Thanks for response
Hope this helps to provide more info.

Hello John,
There is some real estate information and realtors on this site under Real Estate; try this link https://www.vimovingcenter.com/realestate/stthomas.php.
Government jobs on the local level involve a lot of networking, the 'who you know/nepotism' system plays a big part. In any case government jobs in what field? Federal or Local?

you sound qualified to do just about anything which of course is ideal.
I have stated that I like "the Horth Side" best for STT. Seems to be cooler and offers the most security factor IMO. The kids will like the proxiomity to Hull, Meagans, Dorthea, Caret, and afew other beaches.
The government thing is what Islander said. Tight. Fed I really don't know.
Teachers are like GOLD here.
My agent for STX is remax. Call a few of the real estate people and ask who has a rental specialist.
