Replacement Laptop Battery
Afternoon! Does anyone on island sell replacement laptop batteries? I know Office Max does on line, but was wondering if anyone knew if they stock them. Does Mike's? Anyone else? Thanks!
That's STX. Sorry
I have been researching laptop replacement batteries for at least a year, but still haven't bought one. One (or more) of the tech sites recommended that you buy directly from the manufacturer to ensure getting the freshest battery. All batteries lose their charge over time, and laptop batteries are notorious for draining. I was strongly considering getting a generic replacement, but couldn't find anybody who had bought one so I could get their feedback. The branded replacement batteries are expensive compared to what new laptops cost, so I've just done without. There's less of a need for my laptop now that I have a smartphone.
Ha, ha! This didn't answer your question, but it's my 2 cents.
Bought one off of e-bay several months ago. Works fine -was in original wrap-brand new. Price was fantastic.
Only buy from a top rated seller. Here is the page -- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300446615609
You are kidding yourself if you don't buy an extended life battery for your laptop. The batteries put in by Dell are not that strong or long lasting for wireless use.

Thanks for the info. ms411, actually you had very good info. Exactly what I was thinking. Jumbie, thanks for the input. I know Dell like to push their stuff, but this battery is only just over 3 years old. I figure for half price, I can buy two that will last longer than the Dell one did.
Jumbie, thanks for the link. I have an HP, so now that I've gotten a real user endorsement, I'll try one of the generic batteries. I'd like to be able to use my laptop when the power goes out, and my current battery is just about spent.
